What’s this? There’s glitter in the air. What’s this? There’s dresses everywhere.

Oh right. It’s Prom time.

From the afternoon on, on Friday the 7th of April, your characters will all be arriving at Tohjo Falls via the transport arranged for by Lance. He did end up borrowing a few of those Corviknights from the JKBA, but there are also several of you who will find themselves flown to the Falls by one of Lance’s Dragonites or Charizards. Please give them a poffin if you are able, they are all very good boys and girls.

Your characters will be set down on a tiled driveway (more like flyway, Ha) in front of an impressive-looking villa. Those who have been here before might note that the villa has gotten a bit of a renovation and an update. Turns out that when Team Rocket kidnaps you and keeps you captive in your own home for several weeks while wrecking the house and digging Arceus knows how many basements beneath the house, you might be entitled to some compensation.

And from the looks of things, Lance and co used that compensation to turn their little vacation home back into something where they can relax in peace.

After you arrive, you’ll be greeted by Lance or one of the other Elite Four members, who will give you a quick run-down. You are free to explore the house and surrounding area at your leisure. Please respect their privacy and do not go into any of the locked rooms. You’ll find your accommodations behind the house, so feel free to head there and unpack. Oh, and, there will be a little announcement later, so if you could be in the dining room for that, that’d be stellar.

[ The scene: a wide vista showing off the Kanto region. Looks like someone's pretty high up. After a lingering pan of the view of clouds, ocean, and plenty of trees, the camera turns back to Kaiba, bundled up in winter gear. His team's gathered around Zephyra the Rapidash for warmth, but one curious Pokémon lumbers over: a walking salt mound shaped like a mountain. It stretches and sinks onto the ground, looking at the world below.]

Has spring arrived yet down there? I'm looking forward to it after all this.

I thought I'd take on the strongest wild challenge I could before the gym challenge's difficulty ramps up. My team's ready now, but I'm over-packing next time. Can't have too many potions.

[ Shio the salt mound wanders back over, and Kaiba thinks a moment: oh, right. He knows what he wanted to ask now. ]

Those mysterious eggs from Christmas. What did they grow into for you? Shio surprised me, he almost looks artificial, but his salt has a unique power.

Oh dear, oh my. Guys, be careful, we do not want to cause some - OOF!

(Apologies for the shaky camera angles and the unfolding chaos: it appears that poor Harry has some baby Pokémon who just hatched and that has caused a bit of a commotion at Femblemtroika compound’s backyard while he is in middle of trying to help them in training.

It is revealed that he had slipped on a patch of ice on the ground accidentally caused by a quiet and timid orange/yellow traffic cone like creature with stubby black limbs squeaking ‘Sno-Runt!’ multiple times as he panics over what just happened. Next to pop up on screen is a light blue duckling Pokémon, running around and carrying Sirius’s food bowl with her beak which the latter did not take lightly and begins chasing after her.

A little creature with an eggshell covering most of her body comes next: she is shown into be quite overly excited so much so she almost spooked Neville and a shy beige furred puppy Pokémon out by unknowingly setting a training dummy on fire, causing the two to hide behind a bush. Lastly came a blue seahorse and a young anthro jackal who seem to be the only ones who know what they are supposed to do today. Except that the Riolu might have put up a little much strength on his Aura Sphere as it almost knocked the Horsea out towards another tree, thankfully he did not got hurt though he is pretty dizzy at the moment.

Eventually Harry’s face resurfaces on screen as Lily, Rowan, Violet, Roger, Zinnia and Godric try to get the newest members of their team to behave themselves while Ginny and Ron try to get Neville and the Rockruff out from hiding. Minerva though: she is just cackling on the scene. Sorry guys: Harry just learned about being a baby Pokémon dad the hard way.)

Well guys, it looks like that the four eggs I have gotten after Ginny (the Finizen) and Remus (the Rockruff) have been hatched already and I am trying to train and look after them well, only for, um, this to escalate so suddenly. I could use some help in trying to wrangle four newly hatched baby Pokémon without losing my sanity right about now.

Whoa! Cho, did you just stole Sirius’ food bowl?

Duck-Lett!

Hold on a second, I better need to get Sirius his food bowl back before he tries to set everything on fire.

(OOC: Harry has gotten himself into a world of adorable baby Pokémon chaos as he now has a Snorunt, Togepi, Ducklett, Riolu, and Horsea. His Rockruff Remus has hatched and trained up some time ago before it. Feel free to either reassure/help him or make fun of him in his misery, whichever you like the most.)

[Varian himself isn't on screen when the feed starts. Instead, the video first shows a quaking apple as Varian's voice is heard, speaking quietly.]

There's a Pokemon in there! I mean, I know there's Pokemon that look like food, but I'm pretty sure the apple is just an apple... And the Pokemon turned it into a defense, a-a home?

[He turns the Gear so he is on screen, giving a snorting little laugh. There is a Shroodle on his shoulder who looks far less amused, her eyes narrowed.]

It's just kind of funny! Back home, I worked a lot on keeping animals and bugs away from the apple trees. But they were just eating the apples, not living in them. [He taps the tip of the Shroodle's nose, and her angry expression eases up just a little.] Of course, Stain tried to eat the apple anyway. I'm not sure a fruit is the best thing to-- Oh!

[The camera flips, back on Applin, whose eyes are just barely peeking out.]

Look, there it is! You can barely tell the eyes aren't leaves. Does anyone know if these Pokemon inhabit other things?

[Hunter... does not look well-rested. There's deep shadows under his eyes and he's not as put together as he otherwise might be. He rubs one eye as he starts up the video, crooked at first but straightening it out after a moment, once he's figured out how to do this.]

I've got a question for other breeders, but I guess others can answer too, if you have any advice. My question is, how do you even start? [He pauses, half mutters "Agh Titan that sounds stupid" then tries again.] I mean, not the actual stuff. I read the guide, and I've talked to a couple others, I know all that.

What I mean is... I guess, how do you not get overwhelmed? Catching lots of Pokemon, making sure they're strong and have good moves, breeding the dozens of dozens of eggs and selling them, buying more Pokeballs, more TMs, doing it all over again, and making sure you have enough human snails to do all of that in the first place.

It- [He's interrupted by a badly stifled yawn.] -just seems so daunting. I'm, ehr, used to taking on big missions. But this? This almost seems like a whole other level. And I know, I know, "take it a little at a time." But even the little stuff seems like big steps, so... I guess, I just wanted to know what others had to say.

[ Kaiba's out in the north of Johto, apparently on his way to Mahogany Town. He's bundled up in his Christmas gifts (thanks, friends and secret Santa) and seated in a clearing, with a few small reptiles gathered around. He's feeding them a few Poké snack bars, and smiling at them. They seem friendly. ]

Have you all seen these Pokémon? They're apparently ice dragons. Looks like they're friendly too.

[ A few of them rush into frame, poking their big snouts at the Gear. They leave a bit of frost behind that he has to rub off. But Kaiba's still smiling, so charmed by the little dragons that he doesn't mind. ]

Cold seems to cling to them. But I could definitely use an ice Pokémon to train. Think this one'll become strong?

[Welcome to sand.

Or at least, that is the sight that's gonna greet people on the network today. There's just a recording starting with a shot of a beach with a strip of ocean in the background. There is a little depression in the sand, like a burrow.]

Oh, I needed to show this to everyone. This is incredible.

[That's Armin's voice. It's buzzing with excitement, and judging by the perspective of the camera, he's probably also laying on the beach.

For a long moment, nothing happens until suddenly, a small white head appears out of the hole! It rises and rises up, until there is a wriggly, elongated Diglett-esque pokemon peeking out of the hole and at the camera.]

There she is!

She hatched a few days ago from one of those mysterious eggs we received for Christmas. It's always interesting to meet new types of pokemon, but there is something very incredible about this pokemon.

She looks like a Diglett, right? Almost as if she is some variant of it, like Galarian and Kantonian Meowth. But she is actually completely unrelated to Diglett. They don't share a common evolutionary history. In fact, her similar appearance is actually the result of something called convergent evolution. That's when certain traits or even entire body-plans are so beneficial that they will be selected for in completely unrelated species of animal -- or in this case, Pokemon.

Flight is also an example of convergent evolution. The way bird pokemon and bug pokemon and even the various species of bat pokemon fly is completely distinct from one another. They didn't inherit their ability to fly from a common ancestor. Instead, the ability to fly is so beneficial, that they all separately developed it. It's why they also all have slightly different approaches to it. Nature is truly incredible.

[Did you want a nerd lecture on evolution today? Too bad, Armin is giving one anyway cause he's just so excited by all of this.]

Her species is called Wiglett. I imagine they were named before researchers found out it has no relationship to the Diglett species. Wiglett are a type of water pokemon. They live their life burrowed in the sand, coming up like this to catch food. They have an incredible sense of smell and--

[The camera jostles a little then suddenly, a bite of food soars through the air (presumably thrown by Armin). The Wiglett takes immediately notices and snaps up to catch it, rising up much, much higher from her burrow, showing off her long and wriggly body.]

They are incredibly long!

[He is so excited. The Wriggles!!!]

I know most of you must have hatched their new pokemon by now. Has anyone else received something incredible too? And any other new Water Pokemon I should know about? I'm happy to hear about other kinds of pokemon too, of course, but as a Water gym leader, I have a professional interest to maintain.

Who: Joey Wheeler and anyone who plays the Duel Monsters Card Game (no Pokemon outside of their balls though please)

Summary: A bunch of duelists meet up for Christmas Chicken and to play cards.

Log:
[The line is abuzz within the little restaurant, but the lobby is all but empty. Booths with red-and-white striped apolstery line the outer walls and a series of tables with cute little orange lounge chairs take up the space in the center of the dining area. Christmas decorations and faux-gifts sit near the entrance and all manner of promotional advertisements bombard customers as they enter, ensuring they know of promotions and the famous "Party Bucket". People occasionally come over from the line to fill up drinks and grab condiments, but they all take their leave shortly afterwards and the lobby returns to its previously quiet state.

Despite the lack of diners though, a wide spread of food sits laid-out upon the central tables. A variety of differently cooked chicken, all manner of side dishes, and a few different cakes all sit in covered containers, with plates and cutlery in ready supply nearby. Set in several of the booths are golden-tan colored mats with outlines of cards laid-out upon them, all pre=placed to sit and play, and coasters rest by each of the mats to accomodate any beverages that the Duelists may choose to bring. It seems a setup that could feed and entertain an army but it sits untouched, expectantly awaiting those who would partake of it.]

[[Hey folks. I wanted to preface this by notifying you that this post is supposed to go out to those individuals who play/participate in the Yu-Gi-Oh game of Duel Monsters. If you're character is from a Yu-Gi-Oh series then (obviously) you're likely familiar with it but, if your character has learned of while here in Victory Road, then that could work as well. Either way though, this is supposed to be a gathering for the cardsharks to be able to engage their favorite game so please bear that in mind.]]

[The feed boots up from what appears to be the booth of a fast-food restaurant. Red-and-white decor and wide windows can be seen all around, as well as the beeps and boops of the checkout counter, but an excited blonde youth occupies the center of the broadcast.]

Hey der duelists! Joey Wheeler comin' to ya live from Goldenrod again! I just got back from finishin' da tour'a Johto so it's time ta kick back and enjoy da holidays! Every time Christmas rolls around I always get da pahty bucket from da local chicken joint n' gatha' round with my friends, so imagine my surprise when I find out dey got pretty much da same place here in da Pokémon world!

[Joey pans the camera around the restaurant lobby.]

So, I got an invitation to all my fellow duelists: Seems der's a pretty good chunka people who play Duel Monstahs in dis world, so I figured it'd be a good time if we all got togetha and got some propah duels in! Sure der's Pokémon battles here in dis place, but nothin beats a good ol' game'a Duel Monstahs. If you're all jonesin' as hard as I am den's der a resahvation at da Goldenrod K.F.T. by da Bike Shop on Christmas Day! Dinnah's on me fa dose' who wanna come, so hit me up if you're lookin' ta join!

[Grinning widely, Joey salutes the camera in an exaggerated fashion before cutting the feed.]

[ This time, Kaiba's on the coast of Olivine City, standing in snowfall on the beach. He's dressed in a full body drysuit, with a large Kingdra happily dancing in the chilly waters behind him. ]

...all right. I've toughed it out this far, but I thought I'd ask. What advice do you have for traveling in the winter? I'm absolutely not hunkering down until spring, that's far too much time to waste. I've come this far riding on Zephyra, but there are some places she can't go.

[ He pans the camera over to a Rapidash stoking a small bonfire on the beach, then back to him and Kingdra. ]

If you have any items to recommend, I'd appreciate it. I'm about to head to Cianwood and the ferry's probably going to be a rough ride.

Both wear ecstatic expressions as the machine dispenses coin-after-coin, and Joey holds a confused looking Dratini above his head as he cheers. Noise from the other machines and patrons occasionally cuts through the pair's exultation, but the majority of sound pouring through the feed comes from their cheers.]

Yo we did it! We made out like bandits!

[Joey thrusts the Dratini forward for the camera to see.]

Me and Hermos here have been killin' it on da slots, so dis lil' jackpot here marks twelve and a half grand we've managed to carve out! We got ourselves a big ol' chunk'a change and scored dis' heckin' baloon animal-lookin' Pokémon too! There's no stoppin' da wheels on da Joey Train!

[Unfortunately for everyone it's a little shaky at first before it steadies, the silver-white haired woman smiling at the screen before she moves to sit back down against a tree trunk. An absol sits at attention next to her, with a bounsweet being placed delicately in her lap. She didn't quite understand this whole thing yet, but she hadn't complained when the little mangsteen Pokemon had basically forced herself into her possession.]

I have a curious question for those that have been here for quite some time: does it get easier? [Oh, that... she's realizing that probably sounds worse than she had intended.] Ah! I mean adjusting to this place! You see, this is... absolutely not like what I am familiar with. It's not unwelcomed by any means, just odd!

[She seems a little more on-edge than before, mostly due to feeling like she might have put people off already by accident. The absol next to her immediately is shoving his face into her shoulder in... what is some kind of calming gesture while the bounsweet is looking up at her with a concerned little noise.]

Mm, it's fine, I promise... [She mutters softly before remembering this thing, a video, was it called? was still recording.]

I suppose my other question is if it's... a relatively normal thing for one of these creatures to decide to want to come with you instead of this whole fighting thing?

[The video feed opens up rather shakily, as the young man holding the camera is moving rather erratically with it while it broadcasts. Despite the unsteady camera, a mess of blonde hair can be made out. Just as suddenly as the feed had begun, though, the shaking stops and the feed steadies.]

[He leans-in and gives a thumbs-up to the camera.]

Ya know, I been usin' dis Pokégear for a while now but I never realized it could do cool stuff like let you talk to people through camera. Shows me for not takin' da time to get familiar with the little doohickey I s'pose, but how cool is dis? Phones were pretty cool back in Domino, don't get me wrong, but dis is on a whole new level!

[Joey sticks his bottom lip out and nods in affirmation of his own statement.]

How do you catch a Pokemon if you don't have one to battle with? Can I just throw balls at it until one of them works? Feels like I'd run out fast.

2. Action - Route 29

Fortunately, Cloud is used to trekking around in the boonies, so the three-day journey on foot from New Bark Town to Cherrygrove - traveling through a forest filled with wild Pokemon, unarmed and alone - is no big deal to him. But Cloud's never been afraid to get scrappy when he needs to, and wild places don't scare him...and, well, he's used to being alone. So none of this really bothers him as much as it might bother someone else, even when CJ insists it's time to go hunt berries and takes Cloud literally when he tells the Swablu fine, go ahead, see if I care.

Which is why, when someone runs into him on his way through the forest, they'll find a 16-year-old blond in a military uniform squaring off with a Heracross. He actually holds his own for a brief bit, fighting with a style that's part military CQC training and part tenacious cornered animal, until the Heracross manages to slip its horn under a punch, scoop Cloud up with it, and toss him into a tree.

You arrive before the sun sets over the shining sea, a little before 5 o’clock. A fleet of Corviknight taxis descend near the entrance of the castle, slowly setting their passengers on the ground and allowing them to depart. The golden rays of sunshine illuminate the edges of the castle, casting long shadows and making it take on a rather ominous appearance. Better hop to it–you wouldn’t want to miss the Halloween party, now would you?

[The feed opens on a smiling Alolan Raichu wearing a lavender scarf with three badges pinned to it. Looks like she knows she isn't supposed to be messing around on the Gear...but she's so excited! She found out something awesome!

Gaze upon her trainer's ID! She excitedly points to where it says 'birthday: October 25th'. She can read calendars now, and that means there's gonna be a party soon, right? She likes parties. Leizi squeaks happily, giggling to herself, and that's what seems to draw her trainer's attention. A grumpy Kaiba appears on screen and snatches the card back. ]

Give me that! Leizi, you know I can't lose that. It's not a toy.

[ Leizi squeaks innocently, flapping the ends of the scarf like they're wings. Kaiba sighs and stares at the little lens. ]

Leizi's been acting out lately. Is it a Psychic type thing, having too much brain power and too few outlets? I think she might need something to keep her busy.

Do you think entering the contest would be good for her? I've never seen one in action before, but from what I read it involves creatively telling a story while using a Pokémon's powers to illustrate it. My only obstacle, then, is teaching her to be scary.

[ Leizi hops and spins in a circle. She can do it! Kaiba just sighs. Long way to go. ]

[The feed starts to Marik holding the small, freshly polished face mask of Yamask in one hand as he settles in to sit back down then passes it off to Chenzira, who looks quite pleased and sets it back to its proper spot on his tail. There's an amused smirk before he turns his full attention to his device. What a fitting time to bring up ghosts with the holiday he's unaware of approaching.]

I've been trying to learn as much as I can of Yamask since I arrived in this world. I think I've got a fairly good understanding of them by now. I wasn't entirely convinced of their pokedex entry at first but after spending more time with them, I believe there's some truth behind their story of origin. It's too on the nose not to be.

I don't know if anyone's interested in hearing about it. I.. guess if people want, I can post a summary of what I learned.

[It's a weird thought, that people might be genuinely interested in hearing what he has to say instead of him just talking to hear himself speak. Because he does that a lot. Not as much as before but still.]

I've tried asking some of the natives about it, particularly the people working at the Ruins of Alph but they all gave rather vague responses that didn't answer any of my questions at all.

[Marik clicks his tongue in annoyance.]

I know Yamask aren't the only ones with human origin. There's a number of ghost types that are said to be once human in their previous life and some that take others to the Afterlife.

[He's been reading up on the legends of the legendary pokémon in his free time, trying to make sense of everything.]

So both reincarnation and an afterlife exist here. Has anyone been able to learn any more stories or history about... any of those subjects? I'm genuinely curious.

[A pause as he exchanges a look with his Yamask.]

And does anyone have or seen a Cofagrigus in person? Neither myself of Chenzira here want him to evolve but I'm still interested in learning about his evolved species.
