GHOST TRICK PART ONE: Festival Log!

Log:

The streets are lined with NPC-run stalls for food, games, and the assorted tchotchkes of every summer festival you’ve ever seen in your animes! There’s Goldeen Scoop, heaping cones of Swirlix Candy, Test Your STRENGTH (there are two different machines for people and Pokémon; HM04 not required); basically, if you can think of it, it’s there. There will also be a yukata rental stall if you want to go full hog on the cultural side of things. Ecruteak boasts a small stage where the Kimono Girls give a short performance once every two hours; the festivities in Lavender Town are a little quieter, but they also have Haunter-shaped ice cream treats. When you lick them, they Lick you!

On the last evening (August 15th) of the festival in either location, there will be a large bonfire and traditional bon-odori dance in which everyone is welcome to participate. In Lavender Town only, they also set paper lamps afloat in the water past the cliffs.

The closer you get to midnight on the last night of the festival, the more ghosts pop up.

<sub>[Ralph's enjoying himself at the fair--it's been a long time since he's been to something like this which he wasn't actively participating in as the strongman. There are things to eat and buy and watch and everywhere he looks, he spots a familiar face.]

[And speaking of familiar faces! There's his pie war buddy. As he approaches, Ralph holds up his hands.]</sub>

Truce! Truce on the fairgrounds!

<sub>[Ralph is literally impossible to miss in a crowd, and when Heather sees him with his hands up, she first cackles and jokingly holds up the hammer as though she's about to swing it at him. BUT SHE'S NOT THAT AWFUL.]

[Dropping it in its holder, she dusts her hands off and leans on Godzilla, who is still rumbling in consternation.]</sub>

WELL, if it isn't my arch-nemesis!

What brings you here, wreckin' ball?

Well, I'm a circus man, aren't I? Wouldn't do for me to miss a fair! These games aren't video games, so...no willies.

_{[Ralph looks pretty pleased about that. But then he notices Heather's scaly friend.]}

What's th' matter with Big Blue here?

Ugh, he's freaking out because he thinks he won't be able to hit the thing hard enough and everybody will laugh at him.

Even though he almost singlehandedly won the Risingbadge, of all things.

_{[Ralph regards the Feraligatr for a moment. Poor critter.]}

Well, hey. I won't laugh atcha, buddy. So that's two people! And if anybody does? I'll tie 'em in a knot. How's that sound?

[HE'S THINKING ABOUT IT. Ralph is indeed very large, for a human.]

[He looks at Heather (who just spreads her arms exasperatedly) and makes an Unsure Crocodile Sound (tm).]</sub>

<sub>[Ralph waits. And waits. He knows what Zilla needs.]

[He balls his hands into fists and pumps them slightly in the air.]</sub>

_{[Quickly catching on, Heather joins in, both fist-pumping and chanting.]}

<sub>[GODZILLA CAN'T HANDLE THE PEER PRESSURE!]

[Panicking slightly, he finally lifts the hammer and brings it crashing down on the little pad.]

[The little ball shoots straight up and hits the bell at the top so hard that sparks fly.]</sub>

_{[When the bell soars upwards, Ralph's face splits into a huge grin and when it rings, he throws his arms up high.]}

Now that's what I'm talkin' about!

_{[He gives the blue beast a sock on the arm.]}

I knew you could do it!

_{[There is a smattering of impressed-but-also-polite applause from the "really buff" Clefairies in line behind them. Heather, meanwhile straight up jumps around like a maniac, slapping her hands on Godzilla's scaly back and whooping. IF SHE HAS TO LOOK LIKE AN IDIOT IN ORDER TO ENCOURAGE HIM, SO BE IT.]}

FUCK YEAH!!

WHO DA MAN?

YOU DA MAN!!

_{[Godzilla, flushing purple, nonetheless holds his head high and snorts proudly. ;-; HE DID IT.]}

_{[Once he's sure Godzilla has been properly praised and encouraged, something occurs to him and his face lights up.]}

Oh, hey! I got someone I wanna introduce you to!

_{[He plucks a Poke'ball from his waist and tosses it into the air. Out pops a Hawlucha who, when she lands, instantly turns in a quick circle, little talons drawn up into fists, ready to fight.]}

Birdo, meet Birdo.

_{[Heather and her Feraligatr had been carefully shuffling to the side to let the Clefairies have their turn when Ralph unveils his newest team-mate, and she first looks surprised, then delighted.]}

Awh! Look at her!

And you named her after me?

_{[Birdo wheeled around to face Heather and then Zilla. IS HE WHO SHE'S SUPPOSED TO FIGHT? HE LOOKS WIMPY LET HER AT 'EM! She takes wing only for Ralph to quickly and gently snatch her out of the air by her little talons.]}

Sure did! I thought the resemblance was too uncanny not to. And she's a great teammate.

[Heather, on the other hand, is laughing.]</sub>

_{[Birdo's bluster is slowly calmed and she eventually takes a place on Ralph's shoulder, hunching there like an enormous masked gargoyle.]}

One of these days I'm gonna use her in a battle against you but...it'll be a while.
