Log:

The streets are lined with NPC-run stalls for food, games, and the assorted tchotchkes of every summer festival you’ve ever seen in your animes! There’s Goldeen Scoop, heaping cones of Swirlix Candy, Test Your STRENGTH (there are two different machines for people and Pokémon; HM04 not required); basically, if you can think of it, it’s there. There will also be a yukata rental stall if you want to go full hog on the cultural side of things. Ecruteak boasts a small stage where the Kimono Girls give a short performance once every two hours; the festivities in Lavender Town are a little quieter, but they also have Haunter-shaped ice cream treats. When you lick them, they Lick you!

On the last evening (August 15th) of the festival in either location, there will be a large bonfire and traditional bon-odori dance in which everyone is welcome to participate. In Lavender Town only, they also set paper lamps afloat in the water past the cliffs.

The closer you get to midnight on the last night of the festival, the more ghosts pop up.

Alright! Well then, let's begin with something a little strange: have you ever heard of a game called Sburb?

No- wait, yeah I have! I think John mentioned it? The one where you get super powers?

Oh, so you've met John!

[A pause.] Ah...yes, the "one where you get super powers" - that's certainly one way to put it. Well, my friends and I, like John and his friends, have played it!

Yes! He's got a swablu like me - or I guess it evolved? But yeah, we've talked a few times!

Oh, wow. Yeah, I heard there was a lot of fighting and stuff involved... no wonder you got so strong!

Ah, yes, you can put it like that. LOTS of fighting indeed. But I wouldn't call myself so strong, just...strong enough.

Well, it's still pretty cool!

Yeah, there was a lot of training and exercise at school, and we were even right in the middle of a pretty intense training camp when I got whisked away here.

Oh my! Is it a very athletic-centric school?

Well, you could say that... it's a school for heroes! Best in the nation, in fact.

[She's pretty proud of that.]

Heroes? Like...saving people heroes?

Yeah, with costumes and everything!

Really?

[She looks a little unsure about the validity of that, but...]

How exactly does that work?

Well, I mean, you have to take an exam and get licensed, but then you can be a pro-hero! The government pays you based on performance going out and doing things like catching criminals and rescuing people or helping out with disaster relief and the like.

I...see. So, it's sort of like being a civil servant?

I guess a little? But you're out in the public eye and a lot of the top heroes are basically celebrities, like All Might! So like, that's kind of why costumes come in, besides how they can have gear to enhance your Quirk and stuff - you want to appeal to the public.

I...see. I think. Is a Quirk like a special power?

Yeah, basically - where I come from, everyone has a Quirk, like breathing fire or super-strength... I can make things weightless! I mean, I could.

Huh! That's a good power to have - you could carry a heavy backpack without any trouble! Among other things, of course.

Yeah, I could lift up to two tons! I mean, if the situation really called for it. I get kind of nauseous if I lift too much though - or myself.

That's still impressive! And, well, I assume you don't run into two-ton emergencies too often, right? And even if you did, you wouldn't have to handle them alone.

Well, that's true. Heroes definitely try to work together!

Do you all get to choose your teammates?

Sort of? I mean, a lot of heroes form teams or have sidekicks, but when an emergency pops up, you never know who's around - you gotta be able to work with whoever's on the scene!
