GHOST TRICK PART ONE: Festival Log!

Who: Everyone!
Where: Either Ecruteak City or Lavender Town; please mark your toplevel comments accordingly!
When: August 13th-15th
Summary: Celebrate O-bon at a festival near you! For details, see the infopost.
Rating: Will vary from thread to thread. Warn for common triggers if something comes up.
Log:

The streets are lined with NPC-run stalls for food, games, and the assorted tchotchkes of every summer festival you’ve ever seen in your animes! There’s Goldeen Scoop, heaping cones of Swirlix Candy, Test Your STRENGTH (there are two different machines for people and Pokémon; HM04 not required); basically, if you can think of it, it’s there. There will also be a yukata rental stall if you want to go full hog on the cultural side of things. Ecruteak boasts a small stage where the Kimono Girls give a short performance once every two hours; the festivities in Lavender Town are a little quieter, but they also have Haunter-shaped ice cream treats. When you lick them, they Lick you!

On the last evening (August 15th) of the festival in either location, there will be a large bonfire and traditional bon-odori dance in which everyone is welcome to participate. In Lavender Town only, they also set paper lamps afloat in the water past the cliffs.

The closer you get to midnight on the last night of the festival, the more ghosts pop up.

Again, please say which city your character's in and note what dates/times they're there in the header of or within your top--level comment to avoid confusion. Play nice and have fun!

If it was, then most of the people I've talked to should be in jail right now.

[He himself would be as well. Tyrone has not been in his ball once since meeting Dipper.]

Hmmm... I'll double check what area they're in. My sister really wanted to catch one of those to talk to her Pokemon.

...I guess that's a fair point.

[He'd met some people that had their Pokemon out with them, after all.]

Are they particular good at fighting or something? Or is it just an aesthetic thing?

But you might wanna put- Materia, was it- On a leash.

[Seriously.]

Psychic types are good against fighting and poison types. So if you come across gyms with those types, may as well have something with an advantage!

[Kid has been studying up for gym battles of his own.]

I plan on it. I promise.

[Materia was getting herself one of those little kid harnesses and he would make sure she couldn't break out of it.

Little shit.

A thoughtful look touches Cloud's face. He hadn't really considered the different types that various gyms would have. He probably needed to widen his range of Pokemon a bit.]

I may have to keep an eye out for one then...I don't really have anything that fills that niche.

[Dipper is hoping that he would never have to do that to any of his Pokemon. Then again, he's hoping more than anything that he would never get a Pokemon like Materia in the first place.]

There's a lot of other psychic types. I've been making notes about them, and there should be one called Abra in one of the routes around here.

[He hopes that, for your sake, you don't end up with such a bratty one either.]

Abra? I think I came across one of those the other day...they tend to run away if they get a chance, right?

As far as I know. You might need a Pokemon that knows Sleep Powder or Sing.

[Out it to sleep unless you have a fast arm.]

...This is a lot more complicated then it all originally sounded when I first got here.

[He'd like to think he's pretty fast but more than one Abra had given him trouble.]

Also, having a super fast one might work if you have a status inducing move. Even Stun Spore or Thunder Wave can slow it down.

[Paralyzing it is a good option.]

Luckily my Sylveon seems to be pretty fast. And from what I've been able to figure out, a few of the others are well on their way there.

[See? He's done some research!]
sneezelikeakitten: (♠ Uh-oh)

[personal profile] sneezelikeakitten 2016-10-05 04:25 pm (UTC)(link)
[Sylveon is great and all, but a Jolteon might be better at this moment.]

What other Pokemon do you have? Other then Materia and your Sylveon?

[personal profile] notachocobo 2016-10-09 12:09 am (UTC)(link)
I have a Doublade, Noibat, Hoothoot, Skiploom, Floette, and a Magikarp.

[It's a rather special team.]

[personal profile] sneezelikeakitten 2016-10-10 06:21 pm (UTC)(link)
[That is impressive. Except that last one.]

... Magikarp. You have a Magikarp.

[personal profile] notachocobo 2016-10-14 11:52 am (UTC)(link)
[Cloud's expression melts into one that shows just how displeased he is about it.]

We ran into it while we were traveling and my Sylveon wouldn't let me run it off. So yes, I have a magikarp. And he's useless.
sneezelikeakitten: (♠ Listen to yourself churn)

[personal profile] sneezelikeakitten 2016-10-15 05:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, yes, in terms of attacks it's useless... [There is a silver lining???] But if you stick to training it, it comes a Gyarados one day?
notachocobo: (☁20)

[personal profile] notachocobo 2016-10-19 12:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Training it is going to be near impossible though. Like you said, it's attacks are useless--it's one attack is useless.

[Splash. Splash.

Whatever god or gods created this place hated Magikarp apparently.]

[personal profile] sneezelikeakitten 2016-10-21 04:33 am (UTC)(link)
It can learn another attack. [Wait for it.] At level fifteen.

.....Oh great.

[Yep. He's reconsidering keeping the damn thing now. Thanks, Dipper.]
