HALLOWEEN 2016: Team Skull Log

Summary: Team Skull's planned a full-fledged assault on Goldenrod; join up with a team and take them down!

Log:

It's been three days since Guzma's made his first announcement over the radio, but try as the police might, no one's been able to get to him since; after making his call to arms, asking all available Skulls to come to Goldenrod to have some fun, he seems to have completely dropped off without a trace. But Candela isn't concerned much about that. She's been at this for long enough to know the song and dance; this is a pivotal spot, after all, and Guzma will be back here before long, probably with more than enough cronies to go around. When that happens, they'll head him off at the pass. Easy as that. He's gotta get orders out to the people outside, after all, and the only place he can do that is here.

He won't take it over a second time. Team Valor will make sure of that.

Meanwhile, outside the tower, Blanche would like to think she has a bit more control of the situation. Candela had been so gung-ho on kicking Guzma's ass in the tower that Blanche almost didn't have the heart to tell her that there was probably an ambush waiting in there for her. ...Rather, she tried, but Candela has a way of being far too stubborn for her own good...in any case, if she needs backup, she's out here to provide it, but if there are going to be riots and messes in the streets, its better to be out here where the damage is going to be at its highest, just to stop it before it starts. Already, Team Skull is starting to come out in small hordes, and it won't be long before things start to get hectic out here. Team Mystic, though, is dedicated towards stopping this before it gets a chance to start. ...But perhaps they'd be taken a bit more seriously if Candela and Spark hadn't forced her to dress up for Halloween--

Speaking of Spark, of course, Team Instinct's leader seems to have his priorities in order; if there are going to be riots and debris in the streets, some of the wild Pokemon in the area might just get hurt, and that will never do! So Spark has taken it on himself to lead a search-and-rescue charge with Team Instinct--any stray Pokemon in the Goldenrod area should be either captured or brought straight to a Pokemon Center ASAP! The goal is not to leave even one behind! ...Of course, Team Skull is a problem, too, but won't somebody think of the Pokemon--

You're free to NPC any Team Skull grunts and Pokemon interactions yourselves, but Team Valor will have the chance to battle Guzma, and Team Mystic will have the chance to battle Plumeria! Please be patient with responses in these threads; if the boss's Pokemon start to become too weak, they'll end up making a tactical retreat!

One last thing: you're all encouraged to have your character in costume for an event like this, and your team leaders will be dressed in costume, too! If three or more characters in costume participate in a thread together, a miracle might occur, and the Legendary Bird corresponding with your team has a chance to appear at your discretion! This applies in battles with Guzma and Plumeria, as well!

After careful consideration, Armin had opted to help out Team Mystic. He was still a fairly new trainer, after all, with only two pokemon. He might get overwhelmed in the fray inside of the tower. Better to let more skilled trainers with more pokemon handle that charge.

(Also Eren because he had charged off before Armin had been able to stop him.)

The streets suited Armin better. He could take down grunts one at a time, rather than get ganged up on. And it was not like securing the streets was without use; there was no way they could retake the tower if Team Skull members were free to keep pouring in from below. Cut off the reinforcements and they'd be able to get rid of them far easier.

Currently, Armin had Amadeus circling overhead, using his keen eyesight to spot any threats before they could gang up on Armin. Juniper the Skrelp was perched on his shoulder, looking a little tired, but still up for the fight.

Rounding a corner, Armin nearly ran smack into Sion. For a moment his eyes went over his odd get-up, before he smiled. "Hello Sion. It's good to finally meet you in person. I wish it was under better circumstances though."

"Ah, Armin." Even with all the chaos, Sion had to smile at almost literally running into the younger man. "Likewise, though I'm sure we can make up for the circumstances later."

With as many years as he'd been here, at this point Sion was used to the idea of having plenty of time at his disposal.

"How are you doing, though?" He knew Armin was relatively new... And even trainers who'd been here several months were finding their teams strained.

Armin had made the decision not to focus on the possibility of going home too much. He'll keep his journal so his friends have all the information he gathered in one place should he leave, but continuously worrying about it wouldn't help him. It would neither speed up nor keep him from going home, and quite honestly, Armin'd rather use the time to learn as much about this world as he can. What can he say? It's fascinating.

"We're okay for the moment." Armin oofed softly as Amadeus landed on his free shoulder. He was fast becoming a coat-rack for pokemon. "I can't do much yet, but Amadeus has been helping us avoid opponents out of our league."

As long as he faced them one on one, he had a decent enough chance of beating them.

"I'm afraid Juniper is becoming a little tired though."

For his part, at some point Sion had just started thinking of Johto as being a sort of extended vacation, and determined that in that case, he might as well make the best of it. Vacations didn't last forever, after all.

He would agree that the place was quite fascinating, however.

"Well, if you can, don't hesitate to head to the pokemon center if they get too tired. I still have a few potions, and doubtless others would help out as well if needed, but your approach is probably the wisest option."

"I think it would be better to save those." The offer of the potions was kind, but Armin wasn't currently in any distress. He also thought he and his pokemon should be able to get to the center without issue. Between Amadeus' keen eyesight and Juniper's smokescreen, he could avoid a lot of direct confrontations.

"So far, these people seem more troublesome than dangerous, but it is best not to relax just yet." Who knows, maybe at some point they will actually stop playing dumb and start shaping up. Probably not though. "You might need those potions later."

A small frown crossed his face and he glanced in the direction of the tower. "I hope Eren is okay. He went running off to the tower earlier and I haven't seen him since."

Sion nodded. While he doubted his team would be in need of them (and even if they were, he had some revives as well), he still preferred to have something in reserve. Just in case.

"It's unlikely that they'll be able to mount any serious counter-offensive at this point, with all the people opposing them, but that's still no reason to risk foolish mistakes." Which was why Sion had taken some care in choosing his team to bring along in the first place.

"Though as for your friend, well, I believe I saw several of the more experienced trainers go in as well, so I imagine they'll be able to help keep an eye out..."

Armin worried at his lip, reaching up to stroke Amadeus' breast-feathers for comfort. "I hope so. Eren is still new to this and when something really gets him going, he doesn't always think his actions through..."

That was a bit of an understatement. Eren could pretty much act like an angry bull at times, storming ahead and not thinking his actions through. Still, there was little Armin could do for Eren from here, at least not by just standing there and worrying about him.

"Does this sort of thing happen here often?"

By the way, Ryner's in the log now if you want Armin to bump into Sion's bff!

"Well, I suppose that depends on what you mean by 'often', really," Sion replied. "But I'd estimate there's been a major incident perhaps once a year or so, on average?"

He paused, then added, "Then again, I suppose that also depends on what you consider 'major'..."

"Are they always like this?" Armin glanced out over the streets for a moment. "Perhaps I am being hasty but they seem more... obnoxious than dangerous."

He wasn't ready to get careless yet --who knows, maybe they will roll out the big guns any minute now-- but at the same time, Armin couldn't help but think that if this was the worst they would have to deal with, and only once a year at that, well, this world really was peaceful then.

"Yes and no. I've never seen an organization that's truly competent, but sometimes they're just clever enough to cause greater problems than they intend..."

Like oh, say, messing with legendary pokemon. That had happened a time or two.

"Such as?" Something in Sion's tone had made Armin curious.

Besides, wasn't it good to know what had happened here before? They always did say that those that didn't learn from history were doomed to repeat it. And Sion, with his years long stay here, was an excellent source of information.

"There a certain very rare and very powerful pokemon often described as 'legendary'. Needless to say, there are those who seek them for one reason or another. And so there's been a time or two in the past where some organization has succeeded in locating and perhaps even attempting to capture one... but without considering or planning for the side effects of such an ill-conceived plan."

Which usually meant everyone else had to pitch in to clean up the mess, before freak thunderstorms drown everything or something like that.

"Perhaps needless to say, none have ever succeeded in the end, though that doesn't mean they weren't able to cause trouble in the meantime."
