4th Match // [video / action] Route 38 (November 1st)

[Today's video is focused on a Blaziken - the tall bird is reclining peacefully on the ground not too far from what seems to be a road, head propped on one hand-like claw, and very patiently tolerating a small yellow Charmander using it as a living climbing structure.

The Blaziken only moves when the Charmander starts to wobble, reaching out to steady it with its free claw.

The touching scene is sadly interrupted when the guy behind the camera speaks up, his voice a grumbling yet concerned growl:]

Torch dragons are orange. Is this one sick?

Sure, why not? Anything that happens can't be worse than the last road trip I was on.

[... you know, the one that ended in her confronting the last Atlas employee on Pandora, getting the shit beat out of her by Brick and Mordecai, and getting shot in the face with a triple-shot rocket launcher.

Fun times.]

[NO BULLETS OR DEATH but still all sorts of weaponry.]

[For a moment, Mabel wasn't too sure if she should keep on asking. She probably shouldn't be hearing about this but at the same time, she was 13 soo....!]

Hi, sweetie! Don't worry, I'm only your father's trainer. [And she calls over her shoulder:] Shouen! Look, your child hatched!

[By Shouen, of course, she means the Charizard that cranes its head into the camera's view--peering at the Charmander with mild interest. He snorts, some smoke coming out in puffs. Apparently that's a form of approval.]

You'll grow up big and strong just like your dad, won't you?

Mnahahah! Mine, too!

[There aren't going to be any Vaults or Warriors or, hopefully, Handsome Jacks on the Poké-land road trip.

Though if there is a Handsome Jack, Krieg will punch him into a bloody pulp.]

Let's do it!

[Somebody's already excited, even if he's not expecting as much excitement this time around.]

[He nods his head vigorously - that's the plan, Emo Guy!]

The chicken was small once, too!

[And look at him now!]

What's an inkbrush?

[Torch Dragon's eyes get very wide when that Charizard head pokes into view, and he hides his face against Krieg's shoulder with a tiny, shy exclamation of, "Char!"]

Mnahaha! It's gonna be the strongest!

[Krieg's remark spurs another small cry from the baby Charmander - "Char! Charmander!" - clearly the little guy is in agreement, even if he's still too bashful to look up.]

[Is this her teenage rebellion? Ask a crazy man in a mask to tell her a horrible story not fit for young ears?]

Mngh...

[Okay, fine. Give him a minute to organize some words.]

...Once upon a time an asshole had a daughter. She died because he murdered her! Then he was killed because he was an asshole! THE END!!

[A+ storytelling skills. Marcus would be so proud. Not.]

I suppose that's the simplest way to deal with the issue, if you care little for the details of our presence here.

[Which is totally a valid option. Really.]

[Well, she does hang around her Grunkle who makes her do questionable things sometimes so...!

But still, she wasn't expecting him to be that blunt. For a moment, Mabel didn't really know how to react. Instead, she just stared at the communcator in shock!]

...Ooorrrr maybe I could just pretend that I didn't hear that. I'm starting to think that's a much better option!

Well... she's very fast. And she has a special move that, when she uses it, can turn into anything. [ She says that, then is quick to elaborate, since admittedly that was... vague. ] If she uses Metronome, it could turn into anything from Screech to Earthquake.

Pff! You asked!

Big brush! Taller 'n me. Gets fulla ink...you flick it, 'n splatter ink all over! 'N you hit people with it!

So, while you’re waiting for him to be a baby, where are you now? Especially with the bloody harvest done and all.

[He's not sure he believes her when she says the little egg creature is fast, but he's definitely intrigued by her description of its ability.]

Sounds like a gamble.

[And also like a ton of fun, as indicated by the excitement in his voice.]

[That's both cute and amusing at the same time. He's trying so hard to keep a straight face, while the Charizard watches over his shoulder.]

Well, yeah. Gotta keep busy somehow, right? And battles are one of the main ways to do that.

I didn't know it was going to be that bad! Seriously, what kind of people have you been hanging around with anyway?

[She shakes her head.]

No...not here. But mops're close.

[It's why she went and hit Skull Grunts with one in the Radio Tower. It was similar enough.]

Mng...still in the tiny stuffy town.

[He's...not super happy about that, anymore. He's not used to staying in one place for very long, and the town really is tiny and stuffy.

But Angel is happy and safe! Every day she gets stronger!

[Aww, yeah, that's what he likes to hear!]

[Was there a lot of fighting where he came from, too?]

Vault Hunters, bandits, and Crimson Lance.

[So, basically all the violent ones, although probably the only word that will mean anything to Mabel is "bandits."]

[Oh, yeah! What a fun time!]
