[Well, look who it is - Thida's shown up on the network today, and surprisingly she's smiling, despite the cold weather and snow still on the ground. You'd think she'd be depressed like the last time she made a post, but it seems that a change of pace has been good for her - as well as whatever might be in the Pokeball she's holding.]

Know 'bout th'Dark Cave? Soooo dark! Nobody put lights up - but I got a friend!

[The Pokeball is tossed up, and out comes a Noibat. It immediately flies down to the 'gear to get a closer look.] Noi? Noi noiba, bat! Bat noi!

[Laughing that bubbly laugh of hers, Thida edges into view again.] So cool! Wanna find more friends 'n go deeper...but, 's super dark! Gotta get like...ten flashlights? People? People who got flashlights? Who wants t'go?

[The Noibat has now made herself comfortable on Thida's head, flapping a little as it does so. What a wonderful perch!]

If you have a pokemon that can use Flash, it could light up the cave for you.

[A change of scenery, even if it was still cold and snowy, actually did a lot to help her - and setting a goal of earning badges wasn't bad, either.]

How d'you know it can Flash, though?

Most learn it by using a TM, which you can buy from certain stores. If you have it, you can load it into your pokegear and see which of your team can learn it.

Of course, when it comes to lighting caves, fire and electric attacks also work in a pinch...

You might want to keep an eye out for a Dunsparce, too. They're delightful little creatures.

That's a really cute name.

[He's not sure what it means, but it's cute.]

Dunsparce is like... a weird bumpy snake with those little wings on its back, and a drill for a tail. A metre and a half long, more or less.

[ Man, this kid is pretty cute. Still weird in a way she can't fully decipher, but that only makes her all the more endearing. She's not far from Violet City, so she's heard a little about Dark Cave. ]

I'm on Route 30 nearing Violet City, but if you don't mind waiting until I catch up I'll join you.

[ It's probably one of those places you need a special pokemon or skill to get through, but maybe if they go in a group it'll work itself out? Either way, what a cute pokemon... ]

[The squeaks of her new Noibat mingle with the chittering of a Paras. Sounds like the two newest teammates are getting acquainted.]

[ Sooner than she might expect, at that. The sound of her voice is strained, clear that she's on the move while she talks. ]

Find anything good yet?

[ She's familiar with Noibat now, but Paras will be a new experience for her. ]

I'm not sure, I just know my brother said there some weird thing that allows Hoothoots to do that. I'm not complaining, I know I love my little King Charlie the 8th!

[Yes, that's what she named him. Don't question it]

As Walter approached the Cave, he spotted Thida loitering outside with...a bat. He immediately drew back, hand dropping to Chaos' pokeball. He didn't release her yet but it comforted him. He just, couldn't stand bats. or moths. Birds he adored but the way moths and bats fluttered and were all furry sent a shiver of replusion through him. He decided to try and keep his distance from the girl and the hated creature.

[It's lucky for Walter that, after all the attention it's received over the 'gear, the little bat has fluttered down onto Thida's shoulder, its head starting to droop a little.]

Aah...tired?

[It probably is, given that it's not too strong yet. Thida retracts the Noibat into its Pokeball and pockets it, leaning up on her tiptoes to stretch - and that's when she notices she's not alone.]

...

[After a moment, she sort of...waves to the stranger.] Hi.

Walter paused, unsure if she was actually speaking to him, then waved awkwardly back. Even without the Noibat present, his hand hovered over his pokeballs. Just seeing another person made him want to call one out, to be with him. But wouldn't that be seen as a challenge to fight? He glanced forward towards the cave, taking a few steps and peering inside. It was darker than night in there.

Yeeah! 'S dark 'n gotta be big, right? All kindsa secrets hidin' there, for sure!

[Giant mechanical death monsters out to make her a smear on the pavement - and water - are much scarier than a little old cave.]

If it's too dark I hear that there is a move that you can teach your guys so that they can light up a place. No need for ten flashlights.

'Llo! [Thida waves, recognizing him from their meeting.] How's things?

[She chuckles.] Either th'move or th'flashlights! Don't matter, so long's I got somethin'.

[He offers a small smile at her.] Sadly I don't have the move. But I do have a flashlight. Want me to send it via mail?
