I don't hobble anywhere.

[WELL FUCKING FINE THEN he'll bring a group in the mid levels and a couple of outliers just in case and pick as he goes.

He does, in fact, bring the Ninetales. Just in case.

As it turns out, he's a lot taller in real life than he looks in memes. He also hasn't slept in about twenty-four hours and has had maybe nine combined shots of espresso in that time, so he is more than ready to throw down behind this diner.]

Chloe Price?

[See, this would be the appropriate time to send in the Ninetales. So he doesn't.]

I wouldn't be so sure of that. Phoebe! Let's go!

[He removes a Pokéball from the strap across his chest. Oh, yes, he's very confident in this choice.

Across the concrete lot from the large, strong tree is just the tiniest, cutest little pink puffball. She's almost perfectly round and she's got big ol' eyes and a cute curly tail and oh, boy, is this guy for real?]

[Clearly Chloe has never encountered a Clefairy before. Or at least not a Clefairy so singularly bent on straight-up murder as Phoebe is. The chiptune music playing from SomewhereTM intensifies and so does the smile on her face, which is less of a cutesy little 'owo' and more a vaguely-unsettling Cheshire grin.

Are we sure this is a Clefairy and not a Gengar?

Ford sizes up the approaching Thicc Tree. It's a Psychic type, so a special attacker, which means Phoebe's stat-lowering moves won't do too much to it when they're all centered on physical. Can he afford some setup in light of that?]

Sweet Kiss. Confuse it!

[If this hits, that big slow tree is going to have so much trouble controlling its own feet that he won't have to worry. Phoebe darts back away from those approaching stompy feet, winks one purple eye, raises a stubby hand, and blows a veritable barrage of hearts J's way. The points are very, very pointy.]
meteorman: (11 | we only need the point)

[personal profile] meteorman 2018-01-17 08:28 am (UTC)(link)
['Gay'. Really. That's incorrect in an awful lot of ways, most of them ones Ford doesn't want to go into when he's trying to concentrate on a battle.

Phoebe, meanwhile, is dodging around that wayward Egg Bomb, her little feet pumping. She and Ford both know that Hypnosis is going to be a problem, which means it's time to up their game before their opponent regains her sense enough to actually use it.]

Phoebe, Fire Punch!

Clef, clefaaaairy!

[Oh, with pleasure. Phoebe kicks off from the ground and draws back one tiny arm, which bursts into flame. She aims right for the center of J's leaves. No more fucking around.]

[Woah boy. There is a split second where Ford is completely distracted by how striking that gleaming black hide is before he remembers this is a battle and he can ask her for a closer look at her shiny lizard after he's proven his point.

Phoebe lands back on the ground, ludicrously small in front of Firewalk, just in time for that Fire Blast to hit her square in the face. She tumbles backward, curly hair and tail singed, and only pushes herself back to her little feet with great difficulty. Ford could call her back now, but he knows her and he knows she'd refuse. Phoebe likes to see things through to the end, whatever that means. It's one of the reasons they get along so well.]

Can you keep going?

[She turns back to him, squares the shoulders she doesn't have, and nods.]

Faaairy!

[Okay. Her fairy typing won't actually help her here, because against all odds Charizard isn't a dragon type. He can't afford trying to set anything up, even if his gut instinct is Minimize -- don't let it hit you. No, no, offense is the only choice.]

Alright then! Meteor Mash!

[If it hits, she might have a chance. If it hits.]
meteorman: (65 | if your'e ready then come)

[personal profile] meteorman 2018-01-19 07:19 am (UTC)(link)
[Oh, jeez. Phoebe can tell immediately that this isn't going to go well for her: much as she tries to wiggle free, there's no way to escape. She slams into the ground and if that isn't a knockout Ford doesn't know what is. Yikes.

Alright. This is fine. Things are even now, and her Charizard just took a Meteor Mash right to the gut. He's still in the better position, technically.]

Phoebe, return!

[She can't really do much else. She zooms back to her ball in a beam of light, and Ford hooks it back into the strap on his chest in favor of selecting another one.]

Alice, it's your turn.

[A Gothitelle bursts out like a bat out of hell and lands in a crouch, then stands up straight with his hands hands raised and curled into fists. He sizes up the Charizard and seems utterly unbothered.]

Okay! Future Sight!

[This is risky, but he's pretty sure it'll pay off in the long run. Either it will hit her Charizard or give him a leg up on whatever she sends in next. Alice raises his hands and his eyes glow bright blue. A wormhole forms by each hand. Blue light arcs down his arms and is sucked into the wormholes, which then disappear. They'll be back in due time.]
meteorman: (9 | and yet to see you)

[personal profile] meteorman 2018-01-19 08:01 am (UTC)(link)
Dodge--

[But Alice is coughing, and he just can't get out of the way in time on his tiny little feet. The Dragon Claw sends him flying. He stops himself with his own psychic power and lifts himself back to his feet. There's a very unpretty scuff mark on his cheek and boy is he mad.

He's so mad he could just cry.]

Fake Tears, Alice!

[He's going to be down to one soon and he doesn't know what's coming. At this rate he knows he has to work on making sure this Charizard goes down fast. Alice can take another hit, he thinks -- he's not sure -- but if Alice can't then at least Firewalk will be in a shit position for the next stage of things.

Alice's eyes get very, very big and very, very shiny. The frills on his head and all his little bows droop. God, isn't he just pathetic? Don't you want to lower your defenses?]
meteorman: (96 | of what it's like to see the earth)

[personal profile] meteorman 2018-01-19 08:31 am (UTC)(link)
[Yeah, Alice isn't impressed either. He lets out a little chuckle, a raspy gothi-hi-hi, as the little ball of fat flops out onto the parking lot asphalt. Alright. This is in the bag. He rubs one his hands against the smudge on his cheek, wiping some of it away, and shakes himself out.

Ford is a little more reserved in his assumptions about how this is going to go. He's never fought a Munchlax before and frankly he doesn't know what to expect. This is her last Pokémon. It might be worth it to plan ahead a little. Not a Future Sight -- the same trick won't work twice, and she'll be on guard against it now. It's better to hobble that little blob right out the gate.]

Alright. Home stretch. Use Play Nice!

[Alice nods and extends his hands out toward Munchies. Sparkles and little hearts pour forth, bopping him square on his round head.]
meteorman: (39 | committed there)

[personal profile] meteorman 2018-01-19 09:30 am (UTC)(link)
[Alice has only a few moments to contemplate his fate before he is squashed flat. And that's... yeah. Even with his lowered attack, Munchies is more than strong enough to wreck Alice's shit. Ford can't help but wince.]

Oof.

[What else can you say?

Alright. Okay. He can't actually call back his dang Pokémon until Munchies stops being on top of him, so that's a thing.]

That certainly is one way to encourage a Pokémon to evolve.
meteorman: (15 | oh so tight)

[personal profile] meteorman 2018-01-19 10:10 am (UTC)(link)
Thiiii...

[Alice's eyes are distinctly unfocused and his sense of balance is... not. He is pretty much out cold. Ford sighs and calls him back before he flops over again. Nice try, Munchies.

It's fine. Ford's still got one last Pokémon, and while he's got less experience working with her he's confident she's got a chance.]

Alright. Dank Weed, I need you to be serious about this.

[His Dragalge oozes out of her ball like she's half-asleep. Mm. Great start there. Her head and neck droop and her eyes are nearly as unfocused as Alice's were. And this is her at full health. This is just how Dank Weed is. But Ford knows she can fight, he's seen it. Her overly-relaxed demeanor is deceiving.]

Aqua Tail!

[Dank Weed rears back, raises her fins -- and sneezes.

Mmmm boi.]
meteorman: (83 | the breadcrumbs?)

[personal profile] meteorman 2018-01-19 10:39 am (UTC)(link)
[GOD DAMMIT DANK WEED. Ford starts re-evaluating his strategy. If he has to deal with a Dank Weed that is actually asleep instead of just functionally asleep he's going to lose it.

Dank Weed, meanwhile, opens her little snooter mouth. Boy, that yawn is contagious, huh? She yawns real big and wide, so wide -- and gargles up a Sludge Bomb. It's not the Aqua Tail Ford asked her to use but you know what, it's something, and he'll take it. The bubble of gunk flies through the air and directly at Munchies. The one problem with his new form is that he's a bigger target.]

Now, don't --

[Too late. She snzz.]
meteorman: (81 | the locket for the ghost)

[personal profile] meteorman 2018-01-19 11:08 am (UTC)(link)
Wake up! Use Sludge Bomb again!

[Dank Weed does not wake up. Her fins twitch in her sleep and that's about as much initiative as she shows in terms of getting out of the way of that Body Slam. It's over. Yo know how you can tell? The gentle beep boops of the music that seems to play whenever Ford fights anyone has faded away and been replaced by the usual ambient music of Goldenrod.

Well god damn it. He had a point to prove and he super failed to prove it, but he's not going to be a pouty asshole about it. He is trying to be a better person who doesn't get bitter and grudgy about things.]

Well. I have to say, I'm impressed.
meteorman: (75 | in your pocket)

[personal profile] meteorman 2018-01-19 11:36 am (UTC)(link)
[Dank Weed lets out a very unpretty snorfling snore. She's fine -- being knocked out while already asleep means now she's just kind of doubly asleep. She can chill here for the time being.

Ford, meanwhile, regards Chloe. Calling him a loser notwithstanding, that was actually fun. He looks down at her hand and, miraculously, parses the gesture correctly. Mabel spent a good week teaching him to fistbump so he knows this, even if it's not something he'd ever initiate on his own.

So. Six-fingered fistbump. A full finger chiller than normal!]

Yes, I'd say we are 'cool'.

In the spirit of transparency, I have to admit to you that she was named when I traded for her.

[He reaches into his coat and pulls out a revive, stepping past Chloe to tend to his injured dragon daughter. He gently sets the revive on her tongue and waits for it to wake her up.]

But it fits her far better than anything I could ever have come up with.

[Dank Weed jerks upright, coughs twice, and then flops her snout over Ford's shoulder. She's been laid out flat before but only, y'know, metaphorically. Whuf.]
