[ Gorgug looks up from his search behind the bar, not really batting an eye at the drow guy, aside from there suddenly being another person here when there wasn't before. If anything, a colorfully dressed drow like that looks like he fits right in someplace like Leviathan. ]

Uh... I'm underage?

... underaged?

[He blinks. Of a surety, you should not give children alcohol unless it has been very watered down, but this boy is a youth rather than a child and among Jarlaxle's people, adulthood responsibilities and privileges are usually assumed during adolescence.]

Uh... yeah?

[ The idea that someone might not understand what being underaged means is so baffling to Gorgug. Maybe it's a sign of the sheltered life he's lived in Solace... ]

You know. I'm... under... the legal age... to drink?

Ah. Well, my own city does not have such strictures and neither does the city I was born in. If you wish to have wine in my presence I will tell no one.

[georgug]

[ There's a loooooong pause while Gorgug thinks over the man's proposition, judging various things in his mind.

On the one hand, this (adult) stranger is saying it's okay if he drinks.

On the other hand, he doesn't want to have to lie to his parents about having had an alcoholic drink when he gets back home.

On the other other hand... This guy seems really cool. ]

Uh... Okay.

[ Wine, right? Gorgug turns back to the selection of bottles behind the bar, looking out for where Garthy keeps the wine. ]

Oh. There's... so many different kind of wine.

[nevercaught]

Hm. Perhaps I can help you find an appropriate bottle, [he says, coming behind the bar with Gorgug.] Though none of these vintages seem familiar, I can tell a good wine from a bad one by scent.

[georgug]

Uh, okay.

[ Gorgug sidesteps out of the way, well used to trying to make his hulking body look smaller and take up less space, and lets the drow guy look through the wine bottles. ]

I don't know if Garthy would be okay with us opening all the bottles to smell them, but... It doesn't look like Garthy is here right now, anyway.

Well, we need not open all the bottles. We'll start with the ones that are already opened and go from there. I will tell you when I happen upon a respectable vintage.

[And so Jarlaxle starts opening bottle to sniff them.]

Is Garthy the owner of the establishment?

Oh, okay.

[ That definitely sounds a lot less invasive to Gorgug. ]

Yeah, they're the owner of the Gold Gardens. Garthy O'Brien. It's actually kind of weird to be here without them also being here.

[It also seems practical to Jarlaxle! He assumes that any good wine will have already been opened and served to prior customers.]

Mm. I understand. I happened upon my submersible boat, but with none of the crew present in the moment.

[georgug]

Yeah... Like, I tried walking around Leviathan looking for my van, but it's not here, either.

[ Also it was just really creepy to see what's normally a lively, bustling pirate city, completely abandoned and devoid of people. ]

Do you know what's happening? Like... I just got here, but something about this seems really off to me.

We are on another plane known as the World of Pokemon. For some reason, people from foreign worlds and planar systems end up here, transformed into humans. Twice a year, for the space of three days, geography gets passing strange and we who are not human regain our true bodies. This is the second of such this year as I understand it.

I do not know why familiar places from our homes have been showing up this time, unfortunately.

Oh...

[ Another plane? Gorgug doesn't think he's allowed to travel to other planes without at least letting his parents know where he's going.

Well... If he was taken here by force, that's not exactly his fault, is it? ]

I guess that explains why my crystal doesn't work.

Oh? Is it a kind of communication crystal? Or just something linked to the magic of your own native plane?

Oh. Yeah. It's like... Crystal tech? Sort of magic, sort of technology. But it sort of needs satellites to work anywhere outside of Solace.

[nevercaught]

And the moon of this world is not the proper kind, I suppose.

[What else would satellite mean?]

[ Um. ]

No... The moon is a moon.

[ Not a satellite. Duh. ]

I thought the Surface Common word for orbiting body was "satellite?"

[He considers himself reasonably fluent in Surface Common, but he supposes he could be wrong.]
