Try one of the mixers for the alcoholic drinks, little one.

[Naeva just walked up behind him, and is listening to the Shuckle's response.]

He says they only have 'sprite', 'coke' or 'ginger ale', and if you're alright with one of those?

[ Thankfully, Gorgug rolled a non-natural 20 on his Perception check, so he's not taken by surprise when someone walks up behind him. Instead, he turns, looking between the newcomer and the Shuckle. ]

You... You can talk to him?

Yes.

[She smiles, a little sheepishly...she's starting to wonder if she should hide that, but in all honesty it's easier to help pokemon and people if she doesn't.]

Though, if I'm being honest, you may want to fetch the drinks yourself. He's doing his best but he doesn't have thumbs.

Yeah, I kind of figured that...

[ Some Pokemon seem to have better manual dexterity than others. He bets his Thwackey would make a good bartender, but all he seems to be interested in is drumming. Which, really, Gorgug can't blame him for. ]

Sprite sounds good. I'll have one of those.

[ He goes to root through the bar fridge until he finds one. ]

...What is a "sprite", anyway? Since that's clearly not a fairy in a can.

[She hopes it is not a fairy in a can.]

[ The last fairy Gorgug ran into trapped his girlfriend in a crystal and gave him this white streak in his hair. ]

Oh, yeah, no. It's just a soda.

[ He grabs an extra can, picking two glasses from the nearby stack and pouring out two Sprites. ]

Here. It's sort of a lemon-lime flavor.

Soda?

[She pauses, and then gently pushes her glass back.] Ah, I'm sorry. I can't drink most things. But it was very kind of you.

[georgug]

Oh. Sorry.

[ It was probably rude to just offer her one without asking. Gorgug takes back the glass, looking around awkwardly, before his gaze lands on the Shuckle. ]

Do you... Uh. Can you ask him if he wants it?

[The Shuckle begins to wiggle VERY EXCITEDLY.]

...I think he probably does.

[Yeah give sugar to a pokemon what could POSSIBLY go wrong.]

[georgug]

[ Gorgug only rolled a 12 on his Animal Handling check, so he thinks it's a great idea! ]

Alright, here you go buddy!

[ He isn't sure how exactly the Shuckle wants to drink from the cup, whether he'll lower his head and lap at it like a cat, or if he wants Gorgug to hold the glass up to his mouth for him, so his hand just kind of hovers somewhere in between the bar top and the Shuckle. ]

[Naeva, who is a forest queen and should know better, rolled a 1. Oh lord, here we go.

Shuckle, who's job as a species is just to be mildly unsettling at all times, dunks it's entire head into the cup to start drinking. Chugging, more like. Naeva kind of...stares in horrified fascination.]

I...goodness.

[georgug]

[ Gorgug, for his part, just keeps looking between the Shuckle and the person who he assumes is some kind of druid. ]

Uh.. Is he...? He's not going to drown, is he??

fun fact in the dnd campaign she was originally for she WAS a druid XD

[GLUG. GLUG. GLUG. Well, the sprite is rapidly vanishing so the shuckle will live to breathe another day. The sugar high is a problem for future shuckle.]

I--some snakes drink like this so he's probably...alright?

[ Gorgug squints at the Shuckle as he finally comes up for air. ]

...I thought he was a turtle.

...It is a pokemon.

[She sighs deeply, and lifts the Shuckle up out of the glass.] So far they defy any attempt to categorize them into the natural order I am used to.

[georgug]

Yeah, I'm sort of getting that idea.

[ He gestures over to a table across the bar where the Thwackey and Flabebe he's been traveling around with are sitting, talking to each other quietly. ]

She's like... some kind of pixie, but she's always got that flower with her. So I don't know if it's just because she really likes the flower, or if the flower is a part of her somehow???

It's probably a little of both.

[She holds a finger out to the pokemon, for a very tiny handshake.] If she depends on that flower to live, then it may as well be part of her, is the sense I've gotten. And it is a very pretty flower.

[georgug]

[ The Flabebe is very shy, but after a second she decides that the finger being offered isn't meant to hurt her, and reaches out to shake it with a polite smile. ]

Yeah. She seems really fond of it.

[desirestruth]

[Naeva very gently shakes the flower's small hands with a gently smile. She's clearly charmed by the little fairy pokemon.]

Then I don't see the need to make a distinction. Happiness is a part of survival too.

Yeah...

[ Gorgug smiles, watching the Flabebe hold onto the stamen of her flower, and the Thwackey hammer out a drum beat on the table. ]

I guess it is.

Now, I don't believe I caught your name, young man?

[georgug]

Oh! Sorry. I'm Gorgug. And this is—

[ He turns towards his two Pokemon pals. ]

Well, I've just been calling them Thwackey and Flabebe. I don't know if you... Maybe you can ask them what their actual names are?

My name is Naeva.

[She tilts her head, and then smiles a little.] Ah...they don't have them. Animals rarely bother to name themselves. But they'd be happy if you wanted to name them.

[georgug]

Oh! Okay, yeah, that makes sense, I guess.

[ What to name them, though... It feels like a big responsibility. ]

Well I guess I'll name Flabebe... Wilma.

[ Is it weird, to name his Pokemon after his mom? Oh well, moving on. ]

And Thwackey, you can be... Tré Cool.

Oh, tres magnifique.

[Both pokemon look absolutely DELIGHTED, we're sure, these are creatures happy with names given to them by 10 year olds, we can only imagine their suffering.]
