[Riz wakes with a fuzzy buzz in his head, and a dry tongue. He doesn't remember falling asleep, but then, that is not exactly anything new. Riz rarely lays down to sleep. Sleep normally comes to him like a mugging in a dark alley -- completely unexpected and slightly alarming.

Rolling over, he stretches, feeling something shift and pop in his back, his tail going stiff and straight-- wait, tail.

All traces of sleepiness are abruptly gone as Riz shoots up, twisting to look at his tail, catching it in his hands-- his green hands. Properly clawed and small. Fuck yes. He had known one of those strange weekends would soon be coming again, and oh boy, this was going to be another data point for him to add to his files, but that would be a concern for Future Riz. Because Present Riz was far more preoccupied with making sure everybody in their tiny apartment knew what time it was.

Shooting down the bunkbed stairs, he leans over Boober's bed, and the much smaller lump under the blankets there, giving it a good shake.]

Booober, wake up! We are normal again!

[soupguy]

[At first, there's just a sleepy grunt. Then Boober starts shifting in a barely-awake attempt to shake Riz's hands away, but something seems... Off, and the lump under the blankets goes suddenly still. His fur, his tail, his snout! It's all back, and he's genuinely delighted. With a laugh, he struggles to untangled himself from the covers.

Once he pops his head out, there's a sharp gasp. Boober never had the clearest mental image of what a goblin might look like, really. He just couldn't quite get an idea in his head. Still, this is a bit frightening, and he wasn't expecting that. The end of his snout twitches in thought as he looks his friend over. He's really not sure how he feels about this, until he catches sight of one trait.]

You have a tail. [He finally emerges fully now, and walks on his knees to the edge of the bed. Closer, more awake, and over the initial shock, he comes to his conclusion.] You look like you sound, now.

[Riz's tail flits through the air, the tufted end twitching restlessly. It's actually not normally this active. Riz has some dignity and grace when it comes to tail control, okay! But he's also been without it for half a year, and you know what, it can do what it wants right now.]

Really? In what way?

[He cocks his head, his ears twisting forward in curiosity. Riz never really thought he sounded particularly... goblin-y. He absolutely doesn't mind it. It's just an unusual observation.]

Well, you look nimble, but kind of messy. And that's what your voice is like, too. And how you talk, too, especially when you need to sleep. [A snicker.] Which is most of the time. So this fits you.

[nightyorb]

That's a lot of sass coming from a guy small enough to pick up.

[Though coming from Riz, this might as well be a compliment. After all, he also has a lot of sass for a guy small enough to pick up.

Riz allows his eyes to take in Boober's form for a moment. He resists, just barely, the impulse to pat a hand down Boober's fur to see how big his hands are compared to him.]

Geez, I forgot how small you are.

[It wasn't exactly this version of Boober which he had seen before, but it was a version of Boober and Boober is Boober.]

[Boober scoffs and shakes his head.]

I don't know if it's sassy, it's just the truth. [He smirks, though that fades into a confused expression for a moment.] Oh, right. Sometimes I almost forget that-- Well, anyway, you're not exactly a big guy yourself, you know.

[nightyorb]

I know. Usually, I'm the shortest person in any room, except maybe some gnomes. But even they'd be almost twice your size.

[Coming from some people, this might carry a negative tone, but certainly not from Riz. Nothing wrong with being small. It's just incredible to him not to be the shortest.]

This must be what Gorgug feels like all the time.

[soupguy]

[Boober sits back with a smile. He's the shortest among his friends and, in general, most Fraggles, and he has hated every moment of being a large, human size. It just feels so nice to be back to this! He holds his tail in his lap, running his hands through the poof of fur at the end. For all the grief that his baloobious can give him, he couldn't be happier to have it back.]

Gosh, I think I missed being a Fraggle more than I even thought.

[nightyorb]

[With Riz in an easy, relaxed crouch in front of the bed, and Boober sitting on it, they are practically at eye height. Or, well, eye-to-hat-brim height.]

I know what you mean. It keeps feeling wrong each time I catch my reflection. Especially when I'm not thinking about it.

[Riz has never been quite as comfortable with mirrors as he had been before Baron, but it's one thing to look in the mirror in the morning to make sure he's gotten all the toothpaste off his face (a short, functional look, no lingering) and another thing entirely to catch his reflection from the corner of his eye in a shop's window (unprepared, wrong, a constant reminder). It always makes him feel like he's been made invisible and is looking at the reflection of someone standing behind him.]

Yeah... [Boober sighs, nodding.] I'm glad there are these weekends, at least. because I don't think I'll ever get used to it.

And I'm glad that- that I got to really see you, now.

[nightyorb]

[Riz scratches at his cheek, feeling oddly tongue-tied.

Which is stupid!

It's just Boober saying he was happy that he got to really see Riz. That's a completely normal thing to say. Riz is also glad that he's getting to see Boober like he should be. There is no reason for those words to make him feel at a loss for a reply.

Of course, finding the exact cause of that would require a level of introspection into his own emotions that Riz rarely, if never engages in, so he settles for the next best response.]

Wanna go and see if Mando is awake?

[soupguy]

Yeah! Okay.

[Happily unaware of any tongue-tiedness, Boober hops up to his feet. He doesn't give any thought before hopping up onto Riz's shoulder. He's a little big for it, but come on. He will not be able to keep pace with Riz like this, not even close!

But once he realizes he'll have to lean with his hands atop Riz's head to fit properly-- Well, that might be a a bit much touching for Riz. It might be a bit much touching for Boober, honestly! But he doesn't want to fall, so...]

Is this alright?

[nightyorb]

[Riz is a little surprised, but that is mainly because he's never on the receiving end of this. Usually it is him who clambers up on other people's shoulders or makes himself comfortable. Having Boober do it to him is a very new experience, but not one he'll be a hypocrite about.

After all, what sort of person is fine with being carried but not with carrying people when they get the chance.]

Yeah, no, it's cool. [Riz laughs for a moment.] I'm not usually on this end of the equation, but it's fine.

[soupguy]

Well, I've never been carried around all that much before. Just once, actually... So I guess it's pretty new to both of us. [Boober chuckles softly, shaking his head.] So try not to drop me.
