[The video feed starts up as Louie is picking leaves and twigs out of his hair. He absolutely could have waited until he'd finished that to start the video, but he has a point to make. The low levels of light, combined with the foliage in his hair, may let more seasoned trainers know he's in Ilex Forest.]

Yeah, in case anyone was wondering, I'm still not a fan of all the walking. Especially not in this huge forest where getting lost is way too easy!

[Pinching the bridge of his nose, he sighs, then shakes his head.]

But that's not all I wanted to talk about. See, I've been taking on the gyms with mostly the same set of Pokemon, and I'm starting to think I should switch my team around so the ones who I haven't been traveling with have a chance to grow more. But switching out my whole team for less-trained Pokemon all at once seems like a good way to get my butt kicked, right? Does anyone have a certain way they go about rotating their team?

And uh... [He lowers his voice to a whisper] Any tips on breaking the news to my first Pokemon, who loves battling, that I'm going to have him rest for a while?

Text;

I'm looking for breeders who breed ghost pokemon specifically, or at least have a good understanding of ghost pokemon and are a breeder. My reasons are two fold for future plans and because I enjoy raising ghost pokemon among some others.

If you're a trainer, then I'd like to hear your take on any of your ghost pokemon, or ghost pokemon you've met or battled as well. I know I haven't seen all of them and I'm very interested. Your experiences will also be invaluable.

Thank you.

[ Kirishima is just kind of tired after the fight in the Lost Temple so he's not showing up on video. He's got just one question. ]

So does anyone know why there's a Villain organization rallying behind a bleeding lemon?

Or does anyone know about any sort of um... what's that word.... emojism? It means 'meaning'. I mean the emojism for lemons as far as where I'm from is just "sour" but does it mean something different where you're from?

[The feed opens on a man's face very close to the screen. His eyes flick between the lens and the little in-picture image of himself in his Poke'gear's screen. This man is filthy and his eyes are rimmed with red. He licks his dry lips. He was about to address the entire world after untold years of sheer isolation, this had to be good.]

Hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhey.

[His voice is gruff and thin. The B-man hasn't quite gotten used how much air he needs in his lungs in order to speak. He opens his mouth to say something else but his attention is swiftly stolen by someone passing in his peripheral vision. He whips his head away takes a good long look at something before turning back to his audience.]

HEY, HI, HOW'S IT GOIN'? This isn't how I saw my day goin', but I'm not complaining! Who doesn't love a little dimensional slip-up? Especially when it comes with perks. And a guide? What is this, my birthday? Might as well be! I've never been--

[He lifts the Trainer's Manual into frame when suddenly his attention starts to drift again, as though he's thinking many thoughts all at once. His chest sort of hurts. Oh. Huh. That's a sexy new sensation!]

You know what I always say--

[Without warning, the man swoons and drops his 'gear. It goes tumbling, landing face-down on the path. The concerned chattering of a Pokemon can be heard from his end of the line. There is some scrambling and the creaking of plastic before the newcomer reappears. He's laying on the ground now, on his side, one leggy kicked up like he meant to do that. Mr. Juice has been saddled with the Bug Maniac's class attire and honestly he's ROCKING those shorts. He's also very winded. A Mimikyu peeks over his middle, one shadowy paw brought to its false mouth in concern.]

--I always say, when in Rome, do as the Romans! I used to know some Romans, real swell guys. Total party animals! So, my fellow philosophers, what's a guy do to have fun around here?

video: mareanie troubles

[ the feed cuts in to jinx and razor, slowly entering what some may recognize as the entrance of middle segment of the temple. though there's sunbeams peaking through, it must be around sunset as they walk in, taking in everything with the awestruck eyes of children seeing something truly magical. a peculiarly colored phantump hugs jinx's shoulders as they walk, and something is clearly carrying the gear for them since both of their hands are free- given the slight weaving bob, probably something flying... but whatever it is, it's trying to keep the camera steady. while jinx is watching the way the light reflects off the walls, the way the walls are built and crystals glow, razor has taken to hitting one of the crystals with a wooden sword, testing it on multiple levels, as wolf boys are wont to do as they move further into the temple and one of the branching rooms. a midday lycanroc is at razor's feet, jumping up a bit to try and catch the light reflections on the walls, while a boltund hovers near a deerling as they wander. ]

It's beautiful in here- I'm glad I brought another camera... Freesia, careful, you don't want to bump into anything.

[ unfortunately, the childlike wonder is quickly cut in as something hits the camera-ribombee, drawing out surprised and defensive noises from the kids. unfortunately, it's not enough- viewers can see something quite literally getting the drop on both of them, the phantump crying out in surprise and shock, and purple-tipped blue spikes can be seen in the camera's edge, before the screen darkens and only a harsh "Get back here!" and rough barking can be heard- the feed cuts to static, with occasional bursts of blurry, half-covered instances of life once more- a troupe of mareanies fleeing, the sounds of dog pokemon, a ribombee and a phantump- not to mention their trainers- giving chase and fighting as they run, traps setting off, before the gear gets dropped, skidding to a halt before a toxapex.

after some time, the screen blinks to life again. jinx looks thoroughly annoyed, and both teenagers have clearly been running for a while now, not to mention whatever battle just occurred... the camera is closer, so the gear must be in her hands, but it's easy to see razor behind her, as well as an unimpressed shiny trevenant- did it evolve? it sure did. and it seems of the trouble makers, at least one has warmed up to it's would-be victims, sitting on razor's leg as they're relaxing on the floor after the battle, humming cheerfully as he pets it. it sure is venomous! and he sure does not care! all the pokemon seem pretty satisfied with themselves, otherwise- including the lanturn jinx is leaning against. the ribombee seems pretty peeved, though. ]

I can't believe we got jumped by a bunch of starfish.

level 3 • video

The video opens on a forest after dark, the shot centered on a small wooden shrine. Laid out on the shrine in offering is a green stone and some food, hopefully something tasty enough to appease the shrine's guardian. Offscreen you can hear a voice asking, "Are you filming? Are you ready??"

Rainer's voice answers, "I'm ready, I've got it--!"

The first voice, feminine and younger sounding, replies, "Good, because here it comes!"

There is a blur of motion as something small and green appears, approaching the shrine, but just as it's about to come into focus...

...Rainer's grip on the gear slips, unbeknownst to her, and her thumb covers the camera lens. Sorry to all you folks out there hoping to catch a glimpse of Celebi in its natural habitat. This is what you get when you make the woman from a fantasy world with no technology hold the camera. At least the audio is still good, and you can hear four feminine voices OOH-ing and AHH-ing over this miraculous sight. Shame you don't get to see it.

[ video ]

[ this time, sandalphon willingly activates the video features. he needs answers, and he needs them now.

it’s clear from the start of the video that aside from the new starly perched on his head and the new backdrop of cherrygrove, he was clearly very, very distraught. it honestly looked like he hadn’t slept for the night, with disheveled hair and slight bags under his eyes. aside from the fact that he’s never really seen an aurora borealis, the stars in the sky were bringing back really, really bad memories. he’s at least thankful that the little bird pokémon was on his head in the first place— his presence made it a lot more easier to articulate his emotions without screaming his lungs out.

yeah, he’s not taking the entire thing very well. ]

Can someone please explain the phenomena in the sky?! Those seekers only made me even more confused and I can’t wrap my head around anything they said, aside from their Lost Temple or whatever nonsense they were spouting...

[ the starly chirps a couple times on his head, as if to say calm down, it’s nothing too serious. sandalphon only gives him an annoyed look before continuing. ]

Regardless, anything would be greatly appreciated, thank you. [ and the feed cuts off there. ]

video;

I hope you don't mind me taking a few minutes of your time, but there are two things I wanted to discuss.

[Always so proper, Armin is.]

First -- because I know it has been a while since I last mentioned this and there are new people here that might be interested in this -- I wanted to remind people that we have a little pen-pal project set up with people from the Sinnoh region.

For those of you unfamiliar with Sinnoh, it's another region in this world. Unfortunately, we are not allowed to travel there, though last year they did invite us over for a short trip. Since last year I, as well as some others, have been exchanging letters with people living in the Sinnoh region. It's just ordinary people for now, but my hope is that if they learn more about us, maybe one day we'll be able to travel to Sinnoh in the same way we can travel to Johto and Kanto.

If you'd like to participate, you can send your messages to Lance marked 'pen-pal project', and he'll take care of getting it to a participant Sinnoh. Or, if you have any questions, I could try and answer those, though really, there isn't much more to it than just writing letters.

[And with that first subject out of the way, onto the second.]

And the second thing I wanted to ask is 'what information about this world was most important to you when you first arrived here?'

If people who recently arrived here could answer that, that's would be really great. The experience would still be fresh to you, after all.

I just feel there is more we could do to help people who are new to this world. The network helps, of course, but it isn't the best way to get information out to everybody. Especially for people who are not familiar with technology like this. And 'mom' [you can hear the air-quotes in his voice] is more of a hindrance than a help.

A long time ago, I discussed the idea of making creating some sort of... sign or information post in New Bark Town with a friend of mine, but there is no point in doing that if we don't know what sort of information is actually helpful.

[The feed doesn't take long to focus. It's a little shakey at first but then levels out, and a kid with white hair and a Ranger outfit steps back. He's muttering to himself that it "seems like it's working" and then, once the focus kicks in, he clears his throat.]

Ah, Huey Duck here, trainer ID [Number]. Transmitting from New Bark Town. I am a fresh arrival, and this is a call for assistance by anyone more experienced at being here than I am.

[There. With the business up front and out of the way, he can get on with the rest of the message now.]

I arrived not too long ago and, as I understand many others have, I have acquired a PokeGear and a Pokemon. [He leans and adjusts the feed until it shows a Castform, spinning happily nearby, more concerned with what seems to be watching the clouds than anything else.] As it seems to resemble a water molecule, I have currently nicknamed it Cavendish.

[A little chuckle at his own joke, then it petered off and he cleared his throat, setting the PokeGear back where it was.]

I must confess I am quite... well, not exactly out of my element, finding new worlds and monsters is all part and parcel of being part of the adventuring family I am. Even if it does come with... [And he looked at his hand, flipping it over and wagging his fingers.] ...strange transformations.

[Then he shook his head and looked back at the camera.]

But I do feel a little over my head. So, if anyone out there has any advice, I am- more! -than willing to listen. After all, Junior Woodchuck Guidebook rule number two states, "All Junior Woodchucks must be open to the unknown in their quest for truth."

[Here his business attitude drops a bit, as he taps his forefingers together, looking off; likely watching Cavendish just off-screen.]

Even when the unknown is... like this.

[He looked back and leaned to cut the feed, though not without a-]

Huey Duck, initial transmission complete.

[And off.]

VIDEO - 13TH - OUTSIDE VIRIDIAN FOREST (PEWTER SIDE)

[Is it Halloween already?? No that can’t be right, it hasn’t even been summer. And yet, sitting in what definitely looks a fair amount like a pumpkin tent on wheels is Emporio- who to be fair looks as he normally does these days in his trainer garb, though who knows how long before Maria convinces him to dress up a bit- and...well, Maria, who for her part has a magnificent hat on.

Emporio for his part, looks nervous. Maria just seems relatively happy.
]

Hi everyone! Uhh...well, I guess I have news again?

Uu-uu! Emporio won a badge a while ago! When Maria got her official witches hat uu-uu!

[There’s a small, albeit nervous laugh.]

I’d actually tried sending a video about it right there, but it was kind of cloudy so I was worried we’d get caught in the rain...so I tried sending it when we reached the woods instead, but I guess the signal didn’t work. We were held up by swanna at the end of the forest too- has anyone else had a problem with those?

[Well, that aside.]

Anyway, here it is- it’s Blue’s Badge! [Whoo! Viridian City!] We’re in Pewter now-

We have to get to Fuchsia right away though!

Aaaaah, I don’t know about right away…

They announced it though! A ‘magical place full of smiles’! [Ah, the amusement park…]

We’re pretty far though, and it doesn’t feel right to skip what we see here… ...Oh, on that note, we’re both probably going to try the gym challenge here, but is there anything else people think we should see? I know there’s a museum, but there’s probably more than that right?

first video

[The feed's shaky for a second, before it focuses on the man with the spiky yellow hair. That doesn't seem to be a function of him not knowing how video calls work; judging from the fact that he seems to have a whole-ass robot arm, he's probably familiar with technology. It's more likely due to the fact that he looks like he hasn't slept in three days and looks to have the start of a bruise forming on his face in addition to the dark circles under his eyes. There's also a gerbil in his hair. This dude's a fuckin' wreck.]

Hey! Hi, uh, weird...alternate dimension people. [Great, nailed it.] Um. I - I'm Arthur. Soooo I looked through this, uh, video forum thing, and I kinda talked to the mom lady, so I, I kinda got the whole gist of the whole, uh. The kidnapping thing. But, um, is there really no way we can go straight back? None at all?

See, my friend's been missing for like, more than a year at this point, and everybody else pretty much thinks he's dead, so I have to be there. I'm the only person still looking for him. If I'm not around, then no one's gonna find him, and he's just gonna be stuck in wherever he went, unless - shit, is he here? Is there a Lewis Pepper here? I'm pretty sure he got sucked up into some kind of...I-I-I don't know, a magic ghost devil vortex or something, and this is basically like that, right? Lewis, please call me if you've been in gerbil land this whole time.

[God, he actually really kinda hopes that's the case? Not high hopes, but it's possible, he guesses???]

Oh, also I think I kinda just crashed my van into my job, so I'm probably gonna have to clean that up. Honestly, I'm like maybe 60, 70 percent on this being some kinda crazy head trauma hallucination...thing. I just had a freaky nightmare, so that would make sense. Is that a concussion symptom? My other friend Vivi was in the car too, but she's not here now, and wouldn't she be here if we drove through a gerbil land vortex?

[.........]

Anyway, uh. You're not gonna tell me if you're hallucinations, so just - let me know about the first thing, I guess. Thanks.

Why is that every time I think my life can't get any weirder, it does? I need to stop even thinking that I've hit the limit on that. I mean, I finally start getting a handle on the exhausting danger of treasure hunting, and now I look weird and have a cat that likes to fight things!

For the record, that's totally not the appeal of cats. Cats are great because they're indifferent and lazy. Shilling is not either of those things!

But fine, if there's one thing I've learned over the last couple of years, it's how to roll with the craziest punches. So let me introduce myself: I'm Louie Duck, and my cat - I'm sorry, my Alolan Meowth - is Shilling. We're heading out from New Bark Town.

This is going to be a lot of walking, isn't it?
