[HEY SO, REMEMBER THAT GUY WHO FELL OUT OF A TREE TRYING TO CATCH A SPINARAK?

He's back. And he's holding up a large sheet of paper with what looks like a fairly functional trap on it, to be constructed from objects easily bought at one's local pokemart and hardware store.

(The other guy, the one who filmed him previously, is lurking in the background, his mouth a tight line.)]

So! I believe we have all seen the messages from the fellow in the cape, yes? My associate and I are in Cherrygrove and we have drawn up a plan to trap one of the creatures, but alas, we are both new to this world and our own magical creatures are weak in comparison to the birds--and my friend has been robbed of his powers and I myself have lost all my magical items and weapons. While we can trap it, I doubt we will be able to subdue it--and so it is that we are asking for aid!

Once it has been trapped, we intend to present it for the reward. Although they are magnificent creatures--indeed, I would want one of my own!--profit as always comes first.

[So... any takers? Given that the 25k reward is individual, this is quite frankly a 'the more the merrier' situation.]

[Sorry about that shaky video you're all getting treated to, Johto and Kanto - Dimitri is still terrible at handling the Pokegear. However, for a moment or two... it's clear to see one of those enormous and pissed off Braviary - the weird ones - up there high in the sky. It's not alone, however.]

[There's also a Pidgeot up there, plus a Flygon and Hawlucha, whirling around it and dashing in with a variety of attacks as they try to force their massive opponent into landing. If one watches the deadly aerial dance, they might sense a type of franticness to the attacks...]

[After a few seconds, however, Dimitri finally seems to realize he's turned the Pokegear on, and turns it around towards his face. Is his hair in a more ruffled state than usual? Don't worry about it.]

Greetings - in regards to those peculiar breed of Braviary, Lance was not exaggerating of their durability, stamina, or battle prowess. We managed to encounter one fairly soon after his announcement and the fiend managed to stand up to even Gremlin!

[Isn't Gremlin a Rattata? Yes. Don't you god damn worry about that.]

[Although Dimitri is worrying somewhat about Gremlin, judging by the way his face twists into a worried scowl, but not because of Gremlin being a Rattata.]

Worst of all, while Gremlin was still biting down on them, the dastard even managed to abscond with him! I have not been able to force them down in order to retrieve Gremlin, as of yet, although there are some of us here together. Still, if there is anyone in the Kanto region-

[Actually, never mind what he was about to say, because that's around the time when a tangle of feathers and talons crashes down to the ground right behind Dimitri. He jerks around, and it's pure luck that the Gear fumbles in his hand to focus on the action: an enormous Hisuian Braviary trapped on both sides as a Pidget clings to his front while beating at him with Wing Attack and a Swanna to his back tries to blast Water Gun towards their opponent.]

[Why this low level attack? Maybe because... is that a Rattata popping out of the head feathers of the Braviary, screeching and biting?]

[AND HE'S SOON NOT THE ONLY ONE. There's united Child Screaming, and one Chip Abaroa and one Crookedkit are soon full-speed sprinting into frame and towards the bird. Chip in particular seems quite worked up, with a Salandit on their head spitting fire!]

"Give back Gremlin!"

[And that is sure just... two actual children leaping into the bird fray and tackling this giant ass eagle]

[Dimitri lets out a startled yell.]

Chip!! Hold on-

[Aaaaand there goes the Pokegear, tossed to the ground. After a bit of tumbling, it fortutiously lands with its camera still pointing towards the ongoing shitshow, where a tall blond man has also joined the fray, and.... Wait, are, like, all three of these idiots biting the giant eagle-]

[One navy thigh high boot hastily steps into frame, before the rest of Felix Fraldarius follows as he dashes towards the mess with an Aegislash in one hand, and a wooden- ]

"You idiot, use your lance!"

[As the disaster only becomes more disaster, there's a quiet swear from one Grant Abaroa and the Pokegear is jostled as its picked up. Is that a Gyarados you can briefly see, trying to prep an Ice Beam while a Emboar frantically tries to hold it back while friendly fire is an option...?]

"Holy sh- ALL OF YOU, GET AWAY FROM-"

[And that's when the feed ends.]

[They're probably fine.]

Well, well! What an intriguing little announcement that was, eh? 'Twould seem we've quite the incident on our hands, one that is no doubt worthy of the effort, though I have no intention of rescuing Lance. Certainly his dragons will be suitably up to the task.

Nay, I wish simply to vanquish and capture one of these Braviary for mine own research.

[Emet-Selch sounds and seems to be in rather decent spirits, a far cry from the bedridden mess he was a week or so ago. Perhaps that's why he's actually interested in pursuing these birds?]

However, seeing as these avians are quite robust and no doubt as powerful as Lance claimed, I cannot hope to pursue them alone. And so, I thought it only prudent to address those of a similar mind for a potential allegiance against a foe most fowl.

[Did he have to do the pun? No, not really, but it does kind of add to the theatrics of this little call to arms of sorts.]

What say you? Whom amongst you are up to the task?

[Now this is an unusual sight. On Friday, just after noon, everybody's gear will flash with a 'Special Report' banner, but rather than switch to some an EV news reporter, Lance's face fills the screen. He seems to be out in the open, somewhere high up. He looks a little tired and rather serious.]

I'll make this brief.

Since this morning, we've been getting reports of new species of pokemon. We believe this to be some sort of variant of Braviary, recognisable by a white back and striking mask of feathers around the eyes.

[For a moment, the upper corner of the screen filled with an artist's impression of this new pokemon.]

Were it only this, I wouldn't be reaching out to you like this, but unfortunately, it seems that some members of this new species are not only extraordinarily violent but are also much more powerful than regular wild pokemon. We've been receiving reports of unprovoked attacks all across both Kanto and Johto and even on the Sevii Islands. The pokemon league and local gym leaders will be stepping in to try and capture these violent specimens to ensure the safety of travellers. However to ensure a swift response to this phenomenon, as well as prevent any injuries, I'm also reaching out to all of you in this matter.

[A small, dark speck appears in the sky behind Lance. He does not notice.]

I'm well aware that there are very powerful trainers among you. As such, I would like to make a request -- please help the Pokemon League capture these pokemon. Please note that we are only concerned with the large, violent individuals attacking people on the roads. We'd like to collect these, not only to ensure public safety, but also so we can study these new pokemon and make sure they aren't afflicted with something that may be making them act in this manner.

[Behind Lance, the speck grows.]

A word of caution! Please do not underestimate these pokemon. We do not yet know what it is that makes them so powerful, but we urge you to not try and handle these pokemon on your own. Even those among you who have become part of the Aurora League would do well to team up if you intend to help.

[The speck grows and grows! Lance, look out! Oh god, he can't hear us, he's on the gear.]

Go in teams of three or four. At least!

Of course, we do not ask for your time and effort without compensation. The Pokemon League will be rewarding those that bring in any of these pokemon and--

[Suddenly the dark shape behind Lance shoots forward, revealing itself to be one of these new and dangerous pokemon. With a screech, it catches a hold of Lance's cape in its talons, starting to carry him off. Lance struggles for a moment, before shouting at the camera.]

Don't worry about me! We'll handle this one. Please go and capture--

[The video cuts off there.]

( so. those giant birds attacking? they're all over the news. and now, something else is on the network- the feed shows a very high-up view, and there's a city in the distance- some might recognize it as vermillion city! the sky is perfectly clear, the trees are swaying gently in the breeze and the holder of the camera is in a giant fucking nest. it's mostly empty, save for some feathers, and there's no sound of wings right now.... and now the camera is properly facing the recorder- some people might recognize her! except...

she looks pretty clawed up. with how she's holding her ribs, it doesn't look too good... when she pulls her hand away, she winces and immediately covers it back up again. needless to say, she's absolutely cranky as all hell. she looks past the gear, towards the edge of the nest. )

Think I can make the jump?

( she absolutely cannot. she's probably being sarcastic. but. where are her pokemon? )
