[Unfortunately for the current residents of Johto, they might be unfortunate enough to find what might be one of the worst video feeds ever on the network. It seems to cut in and out at first, and even after it manages to stay on for longer than ten seconds, the video is really just... the world spinning endlessly. Ground, leaves, sky, ground, leaves, sky -- Occasionally a tree is visible for half a second and the direction of movement seems to change, but other than that, it's an endless loop of ground-leaves-sky.

It might eventually be obvious that the camera appears to be attached to something that is rolling quickly down a hill. It probably helps that the entire feed is accompanied by the sound of what's clearly a Pokémon "hooting" over and over - rather excitedly, at that - and a voice somewhere in the distance. Pay close enough attention and the words being yelled out are things along the lines of--]

Wait!! Come back!! Just-- Spread your wings and stop rolling already!!

[Does that sound like a new trainer in need of help? That's probably because that's more less exactly what it is.]

Whoa- hey, what's going on here?

[This video is starting to make Newt dizzy. When he hears Pidge's voice, he starts to peace together what's going on, and he pauses to think things over. The next time Newt speaks, he raises his voice, hoping to startle the Pokémon into stopping or at least dropping the PokéGear.]

HEY!

[There's a sharp "HOOT!" in response to that yell, and congratulations, Rowlet does actually release the PokéGear. Of course, that doesn't stop it from continuing to roll away.

At least Pidge is able to scoop the device up in the next moment; except there isn't really any way for the newbie trainer to notice that the thing is on or transmitting in the heat of this chase.]

C'mon-- You're a bird!!! FLY OR SOMETHING!!

[Lance is on break at Starmiebucks, uniform cap turned backwards on his head and feet up on a box of cold cups (Christ, dude, people have to drink out of those!) as he lazily scrolls through the network. He reaches up to scratch an itch on his face when a familiar voice rings in his ears, just behind the hooting, and Lance startles, almost dropping the 'gear on the floor. Pidge! It's Pidge! He has to help his friend and the only way he can do it from this distance is by yelling:]

STOP! IN THE NAME OF THE LAW!

[Yeah, that's not going to work either. You ain't no Jenny, Lance. Sucks to be Pidge right now.]

[Solid effort, Lance. But Rowlet is really enjoying the hill slope right now. Which, honestly, is probably going to be coming to an abrupt end pretty soon. He's got to enjoy it while it lasts, right?

Hey, gold star for effort, though. Rowlet lets the 'gear go, leaving it for Pidge to scoop up mid-run a few seconds later. And you better believe she's cursing up a storm under her breath, both in english and in what she knows of Altean. At least now she'll be able to hear Lance if he speaks again.]

[The excited hooting is met not with more human yelling but with even more hooting. Ford swaps his team around fairly regularly but even then, sometimes he has to settle in at a place with a Pokémon center and just swap around everybody who hasn't been out of the box in a while.

Which is all to say that his 'gear is unattended while he deals with Scylla trying to strangle the life out of him with all six feet of her Gorebyss...ness. And that leaves Mirkwood free to bap it with his owl feet until he spots a post that is actually relevant to his owl interests.

He lets out a series of hoots that more or less translate to having fun?]

[That's probably the first wonderful thing Rowlet's heard since he began this little adventure of rolling downhill. It's a question, not a command or just a surprising noise or anything like that.

So really he just responds with a whole bunch more excited hoots. Which all basically translates to this is the best day of my life.]

[Flip the Seel hears hooting on the network and tries to do something about it by...just barking excitedly. She just wants to say hello to whatever's rolling around on the screen, and rolling looks fun! She wants to roll, too!]

Flip, what's going on? [Yuuko doesn't fail to notice all this racket and sees the feed cutting in and out, which naturally makes her worried. Is that a Pokemon holding the 'gear?]

Um...is everything okay? [Obviously she knows it isn't, but it's not like she can do much for a rolling Pokemon over the feed.]

[Rowlet hoots! eagerly in response to that disembodied voice. It doesn't really translate to anything in particular; it's just an excited cheer. Because clearly rolling is fun, and it has the added bonus of freaking out his trainer.

Whose voice can be heard somewhere in the background, further away from where the 'gear is, still clearly shouting out-] COME BACK!!

[Sorry, Pidge. This is just too entertaining not to cheer on.

Mabel's already made her way out to Route 29 and was taking a break from hunting for new Pokemon which meant enjoying the entertainment being televised, so to speak.

She's giggling up a storm as she throws a fist into the air with a cheer, Little Dipper the Minior twirling and bopping through the air behind her.]

You can do it, little guy!

[Encouragement is the best. It in fact makes Rowlet let out a whole series of hoots and trills on his next bounce, and then suddenly his wings are spread and he's gliding...

...creating an excellent view of his trainer down below, reaching out to catch him...

...and then he tucks his wings back in and returns to rolling down the hill. EXCITING.]

[Rowlet just hoots right into the 'gear, perhaps louder than it really should be. He sounds almost indignant, displeased at the laughter he's hearing at what may or may not be his expense. Which means he's going to flutter his wings and stop rolling, finding a nearby rock to perch on--

And start whacking the 'gear against the side of it. RETALIATION.]

HEY!! HEY, STOP THAT!! [And cue Pidge to come running up to take the 'gear back.]

[Hey! Rolling! Kerberos likes rolling! While his trainer is asleep, Kerberos has been watching the Gear, and when he sees rolling, he picks up the gear as well and chatters, starting to roll through the Attack on Voltron house.

Eventually, he rolls into a room, thumps against a bed, and fwump fwump up onto the bed, shoving the gear in his trainer's face.

Matt has horrible bed head, and he's three-quarters asleep still, even though it's midday. Oops?]

Kerberos? What the shit. Why do I need the gear at... whatever time this is? I think I just got back to sleep.

[By the time the 'gear has been handed over, Pidge and her little owl friend are finally getting to the top of the slope they'd been rolling down. Pidge looks very much like she's going to collapse from the amount of energy she's expended to keep the Pokémon in check.

Rowlet is cheekily spinning in circles on the top of her head, occasionally stopping to nudge the PokéGear that he's reacquired from his trainer so that it has a better view of him. Idly, Pidge raises a hand up to try to get it back, but the movement is half-hearted. She totally feels like she just heard Matt's voice, but maybe she's just tired and imagining things.]

Hey come on, boy, give it back. Let me check something.

[Well Thicket, you're going to have to deal with some more of that rolling camera action while Rowlet keeps on keeping on, way too excited about his activities than is strictly necessary. Maybe he's just happy to not be in a PokéBall? Who knows?]

[It's the voice on the feed that grabs Hunk's attention more than anything. Looking down at the gear, at the spinning world it's showing, Hunk can feel his stomach clench uncomfortably.

Quickly tearing his gaze away, he brings the gear up closer to his ear to listen to the voice more closely. Hoping to hear it more clearly. His pulse spikes a bit as he's sure he knows who it belongs to.]

Pidge?! Pidge, is that you?!

[It's gonna be a dobosh or two before Pidge is able to respond to Hunk. Primarily because this Rowlet, if he hasn't thrown himself back down the slope after she's managed to stop him, then he's hopping or flying around in circles around her, holding the 'gear for her to catch. It's apparently some fun little game he's invented for reasons that Pidge really cannot fathom. He's doing the flying thing when Pidge sees Hunk's face on the PokéGear's screen, even as it gets carried around her in circles. By now she knows that Hunk is also on this planet reality world, and she actually manages to flash him a slight, tired smile.] Hi Hunk.

[By the time Pidge is actually able to respond Rowlet has finally been wrestled down into a calmer state. This generally involves him sitting in Pidge's lap, eyes shut while one hand strokes over the top of his head. He's sort of cooing softly, clearly very pleased with the end results of his game.

Pidge is somewhat less thrilled about it all. And definitely disgruntled at just how widely broadcast Rowlet's accidental video fed was. It seems like a lot more people than Pidge is used to speaking with have chimed in by now. It's just the tiniest bit awkward on the new trainer's end.]
