POKEMON PROM

Time to get your party on! After a wave of Pidgey-delivered invitations swept across Johto and Kanto alike, the day has finally arrived!

Sevii is stunning this time of year, when the temperatures are merely warm instead of scorching like they are midsummer, and the April showers have all blown up north to douse the main peninsula for awhile. And to be quite frank, as Resort Gorgeous comes glimmering up on the horizon with palm trees swaying in the breeze and the faint, musical honks of Wingull drifting overhead, it's clear that it deserves its name.

Lady Selphy herself greets everyone departing the ferries, offering detailed maps of the resort and schedules boasting the many activities and services available. Meanwhile, a small army of smartly-dressed staff will happily direct everyone with luggage to get all set up in the tents along the beach.

As soon as that's taken care of?

Well, what's everybody waiting for?

LAYOUT:



KEY:

• GREEN areas are indoor, above-ground resort facilities that are completely open to all guests!

• BLUE areas are more facilities, but with a twist: they're technically underwater! The biggest feature Resort Gorgeous boasts over similar venues is the incredible up-close-and-personal view of Five Island's vibrant coral reefs. Don't worry, environmentalists-- the construction process was strictly regulated to make sure it disturbed the native flora and fauna as little as possible!

• RED areas are for employees only! You won't find anything more luxurious than a lot of bustling staff back there.


A. BALLROOM

Looking to dance the night away in fancy clothes without worrying about heatstroke? Starting at 7 PM nightly, the air-conditioned indoor ballroom is the place to be! The decor just barely treads the line between tasteful and gaudy, and which side of that line it falls on depends on the eye of the beholder. Still, it’s a good place to dance, and the live music ought to get just about anyone tapping their toes. Along the north wall is a refreshments bar stocked with just about every kind of freshly squeezed juice you can think of, as well as several tables laid out with all kinds of hors d'oeuvres.

B. DINING ROOM

Those looking for a true fine dining experience need look no further than the main dining room, where the Kalosian chef whips up a superb menu of fresh ingredients, and while there are some classic Kalos dishes, the majority are elevated versions of the local island fare. There is no charge for eating here, and there are new items on the menu each night, so even those who want to get their fancy on every night of Prom won’t wind up with any repeat meals. Just be sure to dress nicely-- the dress code in here is enforced, and nobody in sandals and an open Alolan-print shirt will be seated.

C. LIBRARY

A cozy place lined with tall bookshelves, the resort's library is an avid reader's dream. Guests can rest in cushy teal armchairs with books on the history and culture of the Sevii Islands, old archives of seafaring maps, studies on the rare species of Pokemon that can be found amongst the islands, and photo albums of lush locales and underwater treasures. There are, of course, pamphlets on various attractions across the islands that guests are free to take, but these seem to have a specific lean towards academic and exploratory activities rather than touristy hotspots, of which there can be plenty of pamphlets found in the lobby and individual bungalows already.

D. AVIARY

The salty sea breeze wafts into this tropical garden where Chatots can come and go as they please from open skylights. Here, they rest and enjoy the company of guests who might prefer a quieter place to relax away from the main festivities. The resort offers the garden's own supply of berries for guests to feed any visiting feathered friends, and if you're patient enough, the Chatots may let you pet them!

NOTE: There is a strict no-capture rule in place in the aviary to maintain the ecosystem of the local area, as well as the trust of the Pokemon.

E. SPA

Guests can not only get a world-class massage, facial, mani-pedi, or any number of other treatments at the resort’s spa, but they can look out the windows in each treatment room to see a gorgeous underwater vista spread out before them. Pokemon can be frequently seen swimming by, and the more curious ones might stop to peek in! Partygoers will be able to get treatments at half off the normal price (think standard Nice Resort Spa Pricing), and there’s steam rooms, saunas, and a jacuzzi pool available for free. Just settle in, listen to the soft sounds of Spa Music (™), drink a nice cold glass of coconut-cucumber water, and relaaaax.

F. LOUNGE

Want to look out into the ocean without the smell of eucalyptus essential oil in your nose? There’s a place for that, too. Down the hall from the spa is an open room lined with comfy, stylish chairs facing out the viewing windows, most with tables nearby. While the menu isn't quite as main-coursey as what you can get in the dining room above, there's still a generous selection of fancy, delicious snacks and drinks to be ordered. Some of Selphy’s book collection can be found on shelves on the far wall, the selection is small down here so that it can be rotated frequently--nobody wants humidity-damaged books. The center of the room is kept clear of furniture, in case anybody feels like dancing under the sea to the tune of the jazz that plays from the room’s speakers.

G. TOUCH POOL

Off of the spa there is a long, thin room, dimly lit, and mostly underwater - a thick, curved glass wall covers the majority, allowing you to see into the surrounding ocean, and along the glass wall there is a special touch pool! Lit from the bottom and lined with soft sand, small wild Pokemon can come in from the surrounding ocean and allow themselves to be pet and seen by curious guests. Mantyke are common visitors, though judging by the informative plaques around the room, you're likely to see many a different species depending on when you visit.

H. SUN DECK

Just outside the dining room and library, right over the underwater section of the main hotel, is perched a large wooden deck. Lounge chairs with umbrellas are lined up along the edges, and in the center there’s a small but well-stocked bar serving alcoholic drinks to anyone of age, and refreshing fruit juices to anyone who isn’t. There are a few tables set up near the dining room too, for those who would rather eat out in the fresh air. Careful not to feed any of the Wingull riding the breeze nearby, though—they aren’t as well behaved as the Chatot in the aviary, and the moment one gets tossed an extra dinner roll, ten more are liable to show up to see if there’s more to be had.

GROUP ACTIVITIES:

Many of the things to do at or around the resort (Mantine surfing lessons, volleyball, the pools, guided tours of Lost Cave, open sport courts...) are available throughout the day, with plenty of opportunities for anyone who happens to be passing by, regardless of the hour. But there are a few group activities that are scheduled by the resort every day.

Morning: Poke-watching (and catching!), where early birds can meet up with other guests and a guide early in the day and stroll along the beach, take a boat out on the harbor, or explore a little ways into the jungle and see what they can find. There's also Chatot Yoga, which is held in the aviary--try not to fall if you get landed on!

Afternoon: There's painting classes farther down the beach, hopefully far enough away from stray volleyballs, as well as dancing lessons for people who are wanting to get their groove on at the party but aren't in practice.

Evening: The big party is where the focus is going to be going for most of the night, but as it gets later, those who are interested can join up a ways away from the bright lights and make use of some fancy telescopes to see the stars, constellation guides included.

NOTE: The exception to the usual evening activities will be the final night, where the grand finale of the weekend will be a special kite-flying event involving lots of lanterns and pretty lights... and, of course, the mystery event! [LET'S GO FISHING]

[Absolutely no one should be surprised that one of the first things Noctis set out to do after getting his stuff dropped off at one of the tents was to go fishing. This is Noctis we're talking about.

The prince of Magikarp can be found down on the beach, probably on the pier or maybe just standing in the water itself and casting his line, quite content to just spend the next several hours doing nothing but this. Bean, his Snorlax, is snoozing on the sand nearby while Christian the Lotad and Quay the Popplio build sandcastles. Beside the prince himself sits Regent the Luxray, the large feline watching the water with interest, ready to pounce on anything not-so-nice that may get reeled in.

And the other two members of his team are...somewhere. Who knows what Carbuncle and Nyx are getting up to. It's probably best not to ask..]


[Lounge Area]

Now this is the life.

[Noctis can't help but grin as Bean let's out an approving rumble as she settles beside him, the Snorlax having managed to get into the lounge just fine. (Noctis had asked if it would be alright, of course.) The group had spent most of the day in the sun so relaxing in the cooled lounge was definitely a welcome change.

Plus there were snacks. And a nice underwater view!]

Noct, Noct! Can we get more poffins! [Tails flicking, Carbuncle hopped up onto the arm of the prince's chair, the Espeon closing his eyes and sticking his tongue out in a happy blep.] Pllleaassee?

Yeah buddy. Go ahead.

Yes! [Watch your feet! A lime green Espeon is shooting off to go get snacks for Noct's group!]


[The Dance]

[When time comes for the dance, Noctis will be about with Nyx the Frogadier, Christian the Lotad, and Carbuncle the Espeon mingling as well, the prince lingering on the outskirts of the dancing for the most part though.

Feel free to snag him for a dance--it just may require some dragging! His Pokemon will help!]


[Stargazing]

[At some point Noctis will slip outside and end up finding the telescopes, partaking in a bit of stargazing before shedding his jacket and spreading it out on the ground to sit on. After all, what's not to like about a beautiful tropical night?]

Dinner Date~!

Realising that they were both dressed up, had access to a nice restaurant that wasn't super expensive for this weekend, it'd given Ash the great idea to invite Noctis out for dinner. Not that they didn't go out for meals as dates back in Olivine, but this was a fancy occasion at an exotic location. So it felt kinda special!

As they had left from the ballroom to go to their date, Ash didn't have to worry too much about his Pokemon interrupting. Most were behaving themselves or had friends of theirs here to prevent them from getting into too much trouble, they were all nearby and they had grown a lot since last Prom. They'd easily be able to reunite if something happened.

Their table was just for two, not exactly in a quiet corner but not in the busiest seating area either. Rather than rely on music coming in from the dancefloor (along with the noise of the crowd), there was a piano playing somewhere. It was both far more refined than Ash knew what to do with and oddly comforting to hear that music - it reminded him of times he'd stay with his aunt, hearing her play piano in the other room.

Ash smiled at Noctis across the table. Just focus on it being them two, he told himself. "Been having a good time at the Prom so far?"

Honestly Noctis had been thrilled at Ash's idea of a dinner date. They'd been traveling together after meeting up in Mahogany Town but they hadn't really had a chance to just spend time alone, without Pokemon or any other distractions and while he did adore all of his Pokemons sometimes a break was a nice thing.

So while his team was having fun back in the dance, Noctis had headed out with Ash and here they were dressed to the nines and getting ready for a fancy meal.

This was the life.

"A great time, actually. I've been able to spend it with this really great guy that I know," Noctis mused, returning Ash's smile with one of his own. "So it's been a hell of a time, if I do say so myself."

"What a coincidence. I've been doing the same thing." He didn't even try to hide the affection in his eyes. "Although I know he's been off fishing too. Did you find anything interesting in the waters? Or did you catch another Magikarp?"

It just felt immensely comfortable and easy to do this. It wasn't like... an effort, or felt like he had to try hard to impress or romance Noctis. Even if they were dolled up and in a fancy place for dinner. The waiter interrupted them for a moment, to take a drinks order and to give them a pair of menus to read over.

The prince laughs sheepishly. "I did catch a few.....but I let them go," he said, dragging that out on purpose just to make it seem like he kept them. Because he's a jerk like that. "I'm being good, I promise!"

No new Karps on this trip!

"What about you? Run into any interesting Pokemon?" he mused as he leaned back to look his menu over as the waiter went to get their drinks.

Ash laughed. He hadn't meant to accuse Noctis of anything! At the talk of catching a Pokemon himself, he had to resist mussing up his hair sheepishly.

"Well, I can't say I've been as good myself. I went for a run through the jungle path and I kept hearing a voice like, echoing whatever I said to my Pokemon as we walked on by. Eventually I ran into someone else and I guess it couldn't resist messing with him too, so it ended up showing itself. You know the Chatots in the aviary? It was one of those. I named him Jack." Of course Ash would catch the little prankster. So now he has a parrot. Clearly this is a good thing!

A thought struck him and he lowered his voice. "Wait, we are allowed to catch the wild ones, right? It's just the ones in the aviary that are off limits?"

As Ash told him the story Noct couldn't help but laugh. Somehow it was absolutely fitting.

"You are a magnet for pranksters, aren't you?" he mused as he looked at his boyfriend fondly. The waiter came back with their drinks as Ash asked his question and before Noct could say anything the young man chuckled.

"The wild ones are perfectly alright to catch," he reassured them as he pulled out his notepad to take their orders. Noct grinned and placed his, waiting for Ash to do the same before reaching over to take his hand as the waiter headed off to get things rolling.

"See? No jail time for you."

[Fishing]

[Well, this sure is Noctis' lucky day! At some point during the morning, he might be able to glimpse a long red and cream shadow moving in the water close to his position. Aren't Milotics supposed to be extremely rare in this region and difficult to catch, too?]

[Lucky indeed!]

Regent, you see that?

[The Luxray rumbled as his tail flicked and Noctis reeled his line in then cast it out again.]

I didn't think there were any Milotic here.

[But that's not going to stop him from trying to catch it!]

[Catching that Milotic shouldn't be a problem, considering it seems very interested by the line!

...Well, it does seem interested in... poking at the actual line with its head and tail regularly and ignoring the bait. Hm. That's weird. But maybe it's purely accidental? It's still swimming around, after all.]

[Noctis frowns slightly, reeling the line in some in short bursts before he stops completely.

Alright. New tactic.

He's just going to casually and slowly walk down the beach a bit just dragging the line to see if the Milotic is going to follow.]

[Why, of course the Milotic is going to follow! After all, it's not every day it finds a fun human to teas- er, some delicious-looking bait to nibble.

And now it's starting to circle the line like a shark circling a raft, with its tail occasionally coming very close to the water's surface. It's strange, though, it looks like its neck might be sparkling.]

[SO RUDE.

Noct's eyes narrow as he notices that sparkling, the prince trying to make out exactly what is causing it as he continues to drag the line a bit.]

Weird..wait. Is it shiny?

[Beside him, Regent snorts and rolls his eyes. Noct really?]

[He thinks he's about to bag a shiny? Awwww, that's adorable!

...Not adorable enough to spare him what is to come, though.

The Milotic suddenly stops circling the line. That's the only warning Noctis gets before it grabs it in its mouth and yanks.]

[thenightsky]

[You're so mean to him. He kind of deserves it.

Noct goes still when the Milotic stops circling, almost holding his breath as he prepares to reel--

But the way that thing yanks on the line is a little more than he was expecting. The prince stumbles forward, ending up in the water even as Regent grabs the back of his shirt in his mouth to keep him from falling on his face.]

Thanks, buddy! [And now he's going to pull back hard on the pole as he starts to reel like his life depends on it.]

Fishing

[There he is! The boy! He came to the party and he's out fishing! Thida's only just tossed down her own things herself, and she comes right over, a spring in her step as she observes his team relaxing around him.]

[There's his favorite girl!

The prince grins and and from out of nowhere Carbuncle comes bounding over covered in seaweed and seashells, twilling and prancing over to the little girl.]

Thida Thida!

Carbuncle where..you know what. I don't want to know. [Noct rolled his eyes with a grin.] Caught a few Luvdisc so far and a Magikarp! I thought I saw a Milotic a little while ago though, right Regent?

[The Luxray let out a huff, eyes fixed on the water.]

Aaah, Carbuncle!!

[He gets pets and an approving nod - loving the look - before listening to Noctis's haul.]

Which is Milotic?

[The Espeon soaks up the attention, twilling and cooing at her as Noct just laughs under his breath.]

The one that evolves from Feebas. It's a really pretty serpent Pokemon.

Ooh. Like Gyarados?

[Yes. She thinks the Gyarados are pretty.]

Yeah, exactly like that.

[You and Noct are on the same page, Thida.]

Leviathan's girlfriend is actually a Milotic.

Ooooooh...

[Oh dang, that's pretty cool. She nods approvingly and comes a bit closer to caaaaarefully peer out towards the water.]

Your Milotic? Or someone else's?

Mine. Her name's Aqua.

[He glances down at her and grins, gaze returning to the water to watch the line.]

She's really good at keeping the Squad in line, especially since Leviathan is a troublemaker himself.

[Okay hold the FUCK UP.

That is a huge thing.

That sleeping thing. It looks like a medium sized hill on its own. Keith gets closer to look at that, but then sees who he assumes is its owner fishing? Who the hell fishes around he--Oh. He does know the one guy. Keith's Litten trails after him, stopping to sniff at the Snorlax while Keith steps beside Noct.]

Any magikarp yet?

[Congrats, Keith. You've now seen a Snorlax in it's full glory.

Bean doesn't budge, unsurprisingly, but the Popplio and Lotad not far off playing in the sand spot the Litten and call on in greeting. Hello friend! That's Bean!

Noct glances at Keith and grins.]
