POKEMON PROM

Time to get your party on! After a wave of Pidgey-delivered invitations swept across Johto and Kanto alike, the day has finally arrived!

Sevii is stunning this time of year, when the temperatures are merely warm instead of scorching like they are midsummer, and the April showers have all blown up north to douse the main peninsula for awhile. And to be quite frank, as Resort Gorgeous comes glimmering up on the horizon with palm trees swaying in the breeze and the faint, musical honks of Wingull drifting overhead, it's clear that it deserves its name.

Lady Selphy herself greets everyone departing the ferries, offering detailed maps of the resort and schedules boasting the many activities and services available. Meanwhile, a small army of smartly-dressed staff will happily direct everyone with luggage to get all set up in the tents along the beach.

As soon as that's taken care of?

Well, what's everybody waiting for?

KEY:

• GREEN areas are indoor, above-ground resort facilities that are completely open to all guests!

• BLUE areas are more facilities, but with a twist: they're technically underwater! The biggest feature Resort Gorgeous boasts over similar venues is the incredible up-close-and-personal view of Five Island's vibrant coral reefs. Don't worry, environmentalists-- the construction process was strictly regulated to make sure it disturbed the native flora and fauna as little as possible!

• RED areas are for employees only! You won't find anything more luxurious than a lot of bustling staff back there.


A. BALLROOM

Looking to dance the night away in fancy clothes without worrying about heatstroke? Starting at 7 PM nightly, the air-conditioned indoor ballroom is the place to be! The decor just barely treads the line between tasteful and gaudy, and which side of that line it falls on depends on the eye of the beholder. Still, it’s a good place to dance, and the live music ought to get just about anyone tapping their toes. Along the north wall is a refreshments bar stocked with just about every kind of freshly squeezed juice you can think of, as well as several tables laid out with all kinds of hors d'oeuvres.

B. DINING ROOM

Those looking for a true fine dining experience need look no further than the main dining room, where the Kalosian chef whips up a superb menu of fresh ingredients, and while there are some classic Kalos dishes, the majority are elevated versions of the local island fare. There is no charge for eating here, and there are new items on the menu each night, so even those who want to get their fancy on every night of Prom won’t wind up with any repeat meals. Just be sure to dress nicely-- the dress code in here is enforced, and nobody in sandals and an open Alolan-print shirt will be seated.

C. LIBRARY

A cozy place lined with tall bookshelves, the resort's library is an avid reader's dream. Guests can rest in cushy teal armchairs with books on the history and culture of the Sevii Islands, old archives of seafaring maps, studies on the rare species of Pokemon that can be found amongst the islands, and photo albums of lush locales and underwater treasures. There are, of course, pamphlets on various attractions across the islands that guests are free to take, but these seem to have a specific lean towards academic and exploratory activities rather than touristy hotspots, of which there can be plenty of pamphlets found in the lobby and individual bungalows already.

D. AVIARY

The salty sea breeze wafts into this tropical garden where Chatots can come and go as they please from open skylights. Here, they rest and enjoy the company of guests who might prefer a quieter place to relax away from the main festivities. The resort offers the garden's own supply of berries for guests to feed any visiting feathered friends, and if you're patient enough, the Chatots may let you pet them!

NOTE: There is a strict no-capture rule in place in the aviary to maintain the ecosystem of the local area, as well as the trust of the Pokemon.

E. SPA

Guests can not only get a world-class massage, facial, mani-pedi, or any number of other treatments at the resort’s spa, but they can look out the windows in each treatment room to see a gorgeous underwater vista spread out before them. Pokemon can be frequently seen swimming by, and the more curious ones might stop to peek in! Partygoers will be able to get treatments at half off the normal price (think standard Nice Resort Spa Pricing), and there’s steam rooms, saunas, and a jacuzzi pool available for free. Just settle in, listen to the soft sounds of Spa Music (™), drink a nice cold glass of coconut-cucumber water, and relaaaax.

F. LOUNGE

Want to look out into the ocean without the smell of eucalyptus essential oil in your nose? There’s a place for that, too. Down the hall from the spa is an open room lined with comfy, stylish chairs facing out the viewing windows, most with tables nearby. While the menu isn't quite as main-coursey as what you can get in the dining room above, there's still a generous selection of fancy, delicious snacks and drinks to be ordered. Some of Selphy’s book collection can be found on shelves on the far wall, the selection is small down here so that it can be rotated frequently--nobody wants humidity-damaged books. The center of the room is kept clear of furniture, in case anybody feels like dancing under the sea to the tune of the jazz that plays from the room’s speakers.

G. TOUCH POOL

Off of the spa there is a long, thin room, dimly lit, and mostly underwater - a thick, curved glass wall covers the majority, allowing you to see into the surrounding ocean, and along the glass wall there is a special touch pool! Lit from the bottom and lined with soft sand, small wild Pokemon can come in from the surrounding ocean and allow themselves to be pet and seen by curious guests. Mantyke are common visitors, though judging by the informative plaques around the room, you're likely to see many a different species depending on when you visit.

H. SUN DECK

Just outside the dining room and library, right over the underwater section of the main hotel, is perched a large wooden deck. Lounge chairs with umbrellas are lined up along the edges, and in the center there’s a small but well-stocked bar serving alcoholic drinks to anyone of age, and refreshing fruit juices to anyone who isn’t. There are a few tables set up near the dining room too, for those who would rather eat out in the fresh air. Careful not to feed any of the Wingull riding the breeze nearby, though—they aren’t as well behaved as the Chatot in the aviary, and the moment one gets tossed an extra dinner roll, ten more are liable to show up to see if there’s more to be had.

GROUP ACTIVITIES:

Many of the things to do at or around the resort (Mantine surfing lessons, volleyball, the pools, guided tours of Lost Cave, open sport courts...) are available throughout the day, with plenty of opportunities for anyone who happens to be passing by, regardless of the hour. But there are a few group activities that are scheduled by the resort every day.

Morning: Poke-watching (and catching!), where early birds can meet up with other guests and a guide early in the day and stroll along the beach, take a boat out on the harbor, or explore a little ways into the jungle and see what they can find. There's also Chatot Yoga, which is held in the aviary--try not to fall if you get landed on!

Afternoon: There's painting classes farther down the beach, hopefully far enough away from stray volleyballs, as well as dancing lessons for people who are wanting to get their groove on at the party but aren't in practice.

Evening: The big party is where the focus is going to be going for most of the night, but as it gets later, those who are interested can join up a ways away from the bright lights and make use of some fancy telescopes to see the stars, constellation guides included.

NOTE: The exception to the usual evening activities will be the final night, where the grand finale of the weekend will be a special kite-flying event involving lots of lanterns and pretty lights... and, of course, the mystery event! Courtyard Karaoke - OTA

Guess who managed to talk some of the staff into setting up karaoke for her? That's right. Miss Mabel Pines!

While they wouldn't budge on letting her take over the ballroom, she has been able to claim the courtyard and Mabel made sure everyone knew that a karaoke party was happening and even if you didn't want to sing, you should totally come to have fun.

With the machine set up on a table and mic in hand, Mabel is standing on the table in her full rainbow prom dress glory with a pair of glittery--where the hell had she gotten those?--ready to kick this party off as Little Dipper the Minior gleams above her.

"I got this feeling! Inside my bones~ It goes electric wavy when I turn it on!" she belted out tapping her foot on the table to the beat of the music. "All through my city, all through my home! We're flyin' up, no ceilin', when we in our zone!"

And now she jumps down off the table, Tabby Puss the Meowth scampering off to dance with her, both of them doing a very disco-esque move as they point their arm down then up.

"I got that sunshine in my pocket--Got that good soul in my feet! I feel that hot blood in my body when it drops--OOH!"

Yep. This is happening.

[ Once she has had enough dancing, Mari caught wind from Mabel about karaoke possibly happening and scurried out to the courtyard the moment she had a free hand. She had told Mabel that she could be an Idol for a day out in Japan and she can certainly be one here. Throughout her friend's performance, Mari claps and waves her hands in the air. Her hooting and hollering is the truest form of performance flattery.

Eventually she too is up on the table with the mic in her hand. It's almost like being home again on a small, smaaaaaaaaaaall scale. Time for her Call-Response. ]

Ciaaaaoooo~! Who's ready for Mari~?

SHIIIINY~!! [ Any soul watching who repeats it will have Mari making a finger-gun in their direction. ] Lock! OOOON~!!! Here's a song by yoooo~ooours truly and Guilty Kiss! KowareYasuki! [ Blowing a kiss to the audience, some Metal AF Music strikes up. Here's a lyrical reference in English. ]

♪ You are fragile! You are fragile! ♪ [ Throughout the whole thing, Mari is stomping about and addressing her audience whenever she can. All of her big Idol moves are in there, edged out for her Hard Rock aesthetic with headbanging and tosses of her hair. ]

[ The bridge comes and Mari lets out two of her best 'metal screams' for the amount of time a professional can bang out without losing her breath. Without missing a beat, she starts some lyrics again: ]

[ In her last hurrah, she swings her finger away from the audience and grasps the mic with both hands. More melodic yelling: ]

[ The song starts to close and Mari is back to sweeping around the edge of the table with her hand out to anyone who wants to touch. Her shoulders, hips, and head rock hard again to the last parts-- ]

[ Finally, Mari throws both of her hands in the air and waves. ]

Thank yooooou, everybody~!! Stay SHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINY~!!!

[ She hops right down from the table and hands off the mic to the next person! ]

Ash was cheering in the crowd because hell yes he is for this. He hadn't expected a metal ballad from Mari but it was awesome!

He approached her, clapping, along with Macavity who stomped his front paws on the ground to show his own applause. "That was awesome Mari! When's the album dropping?"

Little did Ash know that metal was Mari's specialty. After handing off the mic, she stepped over to Ash and his clapping Pokemon. From there, she offered him a curtsy.

"The single is already out in Japan, but if I can find myself a recording studio...~" She winked, "Are you a fan of metal too??"

"Oh man I haven't actually heard much metal." Ash's musical library was very much indie, rock and celtic, with some older and more mainstream tracks added to the mix. But, he was always keen to hear more!

"Maybe you could recommend some bands to me, or send me a copy of your CD so I can hear the best." Of course he winked back.

[Mabel has her hands around her mouth when she calls it out at the end of the performance, letting out an approving whoop as she pumps a fist into the air.]

You liked it? My friends Yohane and Riko wrote it with me for our sub-unit. We're called 'Guilty Kiss'~ [ She blows a kiss! ] I'm glad I could pull it all off on my own!

Walter hadn't planned to do this. He really hadn't. But Mabel had told him about karaoke while dancing with him, and insisted he come and see what it was. He'd agreed, thinking he could hang back and avoid drawing any attention to himself. But no. Mabel had sought him out and taken his hand, pulling him to the stage and showing him the machine.

Truthfully he was surprised how many of these songs seemed familiar. Not that he wanted to sing them anyway. But Mabel absolutely insisted, and evidently Assumption and Darkness agreed with her as they encouraged him to stay and try it. What was the worst thing that could happen? He finally found one he remembered and felt he'd be able to sing somewhat. He was a fan of Depeche Mode, and although Personal Jesus wasn't one of his favourites it was one he had heard often on the radio.

He didn't start out confident or strong. But at the chorus he'd managed to relax. His singing wasn't going to get him any auditions anytime soon, but without his nerves choking him his performance had an oddly calm charisma to it. Assumption swayed to the music as Walter sang, twirling his bone club. Darkness even joined in on the chorus, echoing Walter on the "Reach out and touch faith" line.

He was still going to duck off stage the moment it was over though.

Mabel is hopping and bopping around as Walter sings, not familiar with the song but she's enjoying it nonetheless because he's her friend and he's singing and having a good time! Her Pokemon are dancing as well and even Pussywillow is tapping his paws to the music because this is definitely his kind of jam.

When the song is over Mabel flounces over to Walter, giggling and clapping.

"That was super awesome, Walter!!" she cheered, as Tabby let out a mewl of approval at her side.

Walter didn't hide his awkwardness. "Thank you..." Darkness chuckled and put a wing around his trainer's head. "Shy." he commented, as if it needed to be explained.

Assumption took her praise with more energy, spinning his bone around happily. Thank you friends!!

She just grinned and winked at Darkness. "That's okay! Everyone gets shy sometimes! You were all really awesome though!" she said again, clapping her hands together as Tabby went over to Assumption. The Meowth looked really excited, tail flicking and curling about, and he clapped as the other Pokemon spun his bone around.

Bravo!!

Hey Dipper. You know that movie about high school drama and the characters sing their feelings and in the end everyone is happy and they're all friends at least until the next movie when the High School Musical© starts all over again?

That's what she's got you singing.

"Here and now, it's time for celebration! I finally figured out, That all our dreams have no limitations!~" Mabel sang, grinning as she danced over to Dipper. "That's what it's all about!"

The moment Ash heard 'karaoke', he was there. He's on stage, still dressed up in his kilt and jacket, microphone in hand, ready to rock. He had his backup with him on stage, his Lucario Danny ready to go. This is their time. "Hey all! You ready?"

So what's he gonna sing? Well...

Ash's voice is smooth and confident as he sings the opening line. "Open Sesame~" He's clearly had experience on stage and engaged with his audience, catching people's eyes as he roamed the stage and sings very much to them, with Danny joining him and dancing to the music, throwing out the occasional wink or finger gun to other Pokemon in the crowd.

But oh, the chorus comes. "Stop the world cos I wanna... Get off, with you, ooo-" Yes, that was a very suggestive 'get off' he threw out there. Danny provided the backing 'ooo's with soft howls, also winking to the crowd. While it was clearly a lot of fun for them, there was also something very genuine in Ash's performance, in the way he emoted on certain words and the looks and gestures he made as he sang.

"Don't you know the train keeps a-rolling?" He rolled his hips with the line, smiling to the crowd in a way that was both flirty and suggestive. Danny copied him, even lifting his hands together over his head to make a bigger point of the movement of his hips. They hadn't even planned this, they were just incredibly in sync when it came to song numbers that have a great line for hip rolling.

But there's someone he's been looking for. And as he starts on the final verse, he finally finds them in the crowd. He focused on Noctis during the last chorus, still flirty in his vocals and performance but with the casual playfulness and (some) of the suggestiveness toned back. On the final "with you", he held his hand out, upturned as if inviting someone to take it. He finished by letting his hand drop and tapping his heel to the ending beats as Danny gave a final howl. The song over, the pair beamed and bowed together. "Thanks everyone! Hope you all liked it!"

During the performance, his Umbreon, Macavity, might be looking for any change your character has on hand. Look, in his opinion, you oughta pay the piper.

When it was Yayoi's turn, she started flipping through the musical numbers when she noticed something. A song, familiar to her as she grinned.

Turning around she proclaimed, "Here's a song from my dimension!"

A beat started playing as she swung into the song with gusto.

McGucket whoops and hollers for Mabel's song, and pretty much everyone else's song. Odds are you have an old man in your crowd with his arms thrown up cheering for you with screams.

But at one point, he does clamber up onto the stage. He flips through the song options, and then jabs his finger at the one he's chosen, raising his eyebrows and giving Mabel a mischievous look. Eh? Eh? Whaddaya say?

Mabel is ecstatic to see so many people here and enjoying the party. This is exactly what she wanted after all! She just wants everyone to have a good time and--

Her eyes light up when she sees McGucket climb up on stage and then he's jabbing a finger at the screen and--

Oh.

Oh that look. And that song.

His mischievous look is matched by one of hers and she is right there with him, another mic in hand.

"Let's do this!"

McGucket lets out a wild, wild whoop of laughter. Which, well, is at least very appropriate. He does an excited tapping dance as the song opens, and hollers the first line into the mic, his eyes shutting and his head shaking a little from everything he's putting into it.

"I may run and hide when you're screamin' my name, all riiiight!"

There is a lot of twang in it. It's on-key at least, but McGucket's voice is screechy even when it isn't amplified by an inexpensive karaoke microphone, and is not something anybody would choose to listen to. But that's too bad: y'all are just going to have to deal with it, because he has the mic, he has the spotlight, and he is having the time of his life.

He throws an arm out at Mabel, tossing the next line to her. Time to shine, sweetie.

Plastic Love -- Mariya Takeuchi guest appearance by Aku

[This is Botan's time, she loves karaoke, and she hasn't had a big group to sing with in a while even if they're not technically friends. When it's her turn at the mic, she looks through the listing and picks a high energy version of a pop song that was popular in the 80s. Of course something like that would be what Botan sings. Though only people that speak Japanese would realize that even if it sounds upbeat it's actually a ballad about heartbreak, though the few English lyrics might hint at that. She's pretty into the singing, taking down her hair from the bun she had it in to let the curls loose and swaying around.]

I'm just playing games! I know that's plastic love~ // Dance to the plastic beat! Another morning comes~

[The song is ending, but Botan's not done yet--she twirls to the side as if she's revealing something behind her but, there's nothing?

At first, anyway. Her shadow cast on the ground stands up to show it's actually her Gengar that had accompanied her.]

Aku, your turn~!

[Aku takes a moment to fix his bowtie, gestures at Botan to set the song he wanted, and...

Well. He only sings opera, so of course this is what he's singing. Botan looks very proud of him. After his song finishes he bows while Botan winks to the people who managed to stay after that belting of ballads.]

[After Botan's performance Mabel is going to immediately seek them out, vibrating with excitement as she bombards them.]

That was AWESOME!

[Little Dipper, who's bopping around her head, thrums in agreement, the Minior twirling and spinning.]

[This is totally all Haunter's fault. Again. Haunter and Blue in the second-worst tag-team since Blue and Zappy conspired to do shenanigans in Shiro's arm. He's not... exactly comfortable up there. To say the least. But there's words. And not a whole lot of people currently in the area.]
