1) AN OPEN DOOR | action
Not this again...

[Once more, it's one of Those Weekends. Which inevitably means Shiro is going to step out of a door, somewhere, most likely his own bedroom, and land face-first into something, somewhere, else. At least, he's slightly better dressed this time. Pants are always a welcome addition.]

[Still, he sort of folds in on himself, partly because it's probably cold, and partly because you don't just fall into someone's room in your PJs - this is so embarrassing.]

Hey, listen, I'm sorry. This - really wasn't what I meant to do. Just point me at the door.

[He sounds so... so tired.]


2) TAKE A RIDE | action or video
[Whether you're watching the shaky-cam broadcast on the network, or looking up in person, there is definitely something in the sky. A closer (either zoom in, or squinting) look reveals what exactly it is.]

[That's a giant robot.]

[That's a giant robot lion. It's enormous. Like, that thing is the size of a building. Is it a pokemon? Is this some kind of weird armored Solgaleo? Nope, it's just a certain quasi-magical, lion robot. Where the heck did that thing come from.]

[And it's... doing stunts. Barrel rolls. Flips. Flying upside down. All of those things in rapid succession. Until, finally, it starts to climb upward. Higher and higher... disappearing into the clouds... Only to come hurtling back down in free fall. Oh shi - is something wrong? Did it have a malfunction?]

[Nope. It catches itself at the last second, skimming only a few feet off the ground with a victorious roar that shakes the camera (or the ground, depending on how you're witnessing this).]

[Eventually, it lands, and who of all people but Shiro emerges, armored, and beaming.]

[Either catch him in person, or send him a video message.]

[Luckily (or unluckily, depending on who is being asked), Shiro lands face-first in the house bathroom where he is treated to a high-pitched scream of the muy dramático kind. The kind only dog Pokemon should be able to hear. But by the magic of the universe enjoying Shiro's misery, his ears are blessed by the sound at full volume and the sight of Lance dripping wet, fresh from the shower, with a towel around his waist and two fingers covering each of his nipnops.]

CAN'T A MAN HAVE SOME PRIVACY?

[You know, for a half-second there, he's delighted to fall into a room of his own dang house for once. That feeling lasts all of a heartbeat before the screaming starts. Out of sheer reflex, Shiro scrambles backward, throwing an arm over his eyes.]

[It's not until he slams the door shut behind him that something clicks.]

... Lance!?

[What's this? A giant robot doing flips and playing in the sky?]

[Armed with a jet-pack and his guns--so many guns--Mando goes zooming up to investigate. He's not afraid; he remembers Shiro and Allura both telling him about the enormous mechanical lions they piloted in their world, and he has an inkling which one of them is driving this bad boy.]

[As such, he's going to zoom right up near the lion's face, hovering near one of its eyes, and wave.]

[We're... going to say there's a loudspeaker system in place here. Or something like that. Something that lets Shiro's voice go out into the world without having to hack communication systems or anything like that.]

[So Mando's little wave is answered by a cheerful, breathless:]

Hey yourself!

[Yep, that's definitely Shiro in there. And sounding happier than Mando has ever heard him before.]

[Let's just say Mando has been putting additions on his helmet, and he's also got some kind of loudspeaker or radio technology rigged up in there so he can communicate with Shiro. It's some kind of wild Star Wars tech, who knows. We're going to totally ignore the silliness of having a loudspeaker in the vacuum of space. Either way, when he talks, Shiro can clearly hear him inside the lion.]

Pretty impressive starship you've got here. What else can she do?

[Hey, it's 4th Wall Weekend. Everyone can fudge tech here.]

[The Lion waggles its wings in answer before Shiro speaks. Somehow, it seems like the big robot is looking at Mando.]

A lot, but - I might need to set her down. Not sure if you can keep up. [A beat, before he adds:] Not a challenge! Just - a fact!

[Should've led with that caveat, Shiro.]

Too late. Challenge accepted.

[And with that, Mando zooms off again. He's not going to beat the lion; he knows he's not going to beat a full starship with his jetpack. But he's going to have a hell of a time trying.]

[ Byleth has seen all sorts of constructs and beasts in his time, but this one is something else entirely. It carries a regal air about it that is impressive to say the least. He nearly drops his gear as the roar tops out the audio levels, but when Shiro emerges he finds himself leaning in and calling him immediately. ]

Shiro... what... what is that?! Is that a Pokemon?

[Despite that whole Maybeline Hair Flip, he still looks kind of windswept. Somehow. Despite being in the cockpit. Either way, he's elated. And that just increases when he sees Byleth on screen.]

Byleth!

[God he's a golden retriever in human form.]

It's - She's a ship. Sort of! Remember - I said I flew? I fly in this!

Oh... wow-

That's. I don't even know what to say! Incredible! Can I... would you take me inside? Can I see it???

Yes!

Where are you? We can come pick you up.

What in the world?

[This particular weird weekend is stranger than normal. Geography always goes a bit off, but really, this is madness. Lust doesn't even know where she is at this point!

But she knows who just exited the...massive flying metal lion. And she has some questions.]

Lust!

[Is it even possible for Shiro to look happier? Well. If so, he manages it when he sees who they managed to land nearby. He tucks his helmet under one arm, and strides over to her, spreading his free hand back toward the Lion.]

Look! You have to come meet her!

Her?

[Lust only has more questions. She eyes the great construction skeptically, taking a step closer but not too eager to get that close. It's like some massive robot. She knows Shiro comes from space and all of that, but she's never heard of giant animal robots in space.]

What in the world is it?

A ship. Sort of. A ship - a robot... Both?

[He's almost too delighted to stop and explain. But he stops himself, takes a deep breath.]

It's the Black Lion. A robot, and a ship, from my world. There's some kind of intelligence in them - lets them choose their pilots.

This one chose me.

[Min watches the whole display, torn between being impressed or fearful. He's unsure whether it's a machine or an animal, but either way it looks like it could do him some serious damage.

If he wasn't worried before, he sure is when it suddenly plummets down from the sky. It seems impossible that it won't crash, but somehow it recovers itself at the last minute. With the roar he's almost convinced it must be some kind of Pokémon, but then out steps...]

Hey!

[His helmet gets tucked under one arm. Somehow, his hair looks windswept, despite, you know, the whole helmet thing and being inside the cockpit. But he still manages to look absolutely ecstatic. Has he ever looked this happy?]

[Doesn't matter, he does now.]

Did you see that?

[Seeing it's Shiro is reassuring, at least. He looks happy, and he's pretty sure he wouldn't do anything too dangerous. Probably.]

Yeah. I saw it. What is that thing?

[It does look pretty cool...]

She... is the Black Lion. A ship, sort of. A robot, also. Made to protect the universe.

[He sounds so proud right now. After all that's happened, everything here, everything back home. He can still fly the Lion. He's still accepted.]

And I get to pilot her.

"THAT'S SO COOL!!!"

Hi, Shiro, there is a small child running full tilt at your military hardware right now. They're hollering at the top of their lungs to be heard, and absolutely not watching where they're going while they do.

"Is it yours, where'd it come from, is it aliens??"

[shiro2hero]

Fortunately for both of them, the Lion is... in park. Well. You know, as much in "park", as any of the Lions can be. And Shiro is between it and Chip, ready to intercept this delighted, and adorable child.

"I'm her Paladin, she came from space, and yes, it's aliens."

Honestly, Shiro looks as delighted as Chip does right now.

Chip makes a flying leap right up into Shiro's arms (they're used to having Big Dads), laughing and clinging on tight.

"It's a girl?? Are there boy ones, too? What kinda aliens do you fight, how big are they??"

The laughter is contagious. Shiro's grinning too, laughing himself as he catches Chip and swings them up onto his shoulders. They're used to Big Dads, and Shiro is used to small people clambering up onto him (Pidge).

"Most people call their ships a 'she', and the Lion's never had a problem with it." He's sure if the Presence in the robot had an issue with being called that, he would have known by now. It just felt better than "it".

"We fight aliens as big or bigger than our Lions are. They're pretty scary - like in movies."
