The sky above, the waves below.

It starts in the sky above the Sevii islands at roughly midnight. One moment, the sky is clear, the dark expanse only broken up here and there by clusters of stars, and then the next moments, colours start creeping in. It's subtle at first -- streaks of purple and blues that one might be able to dismiss-- but soon enough, bright lights are dancing across the sky, moving in slow, undulating movements that seem part of an ancient dance.
Aurora Borealis? At this time of year? At this time of night? In this part of the region? Localised entirely above the Sevii Islands?
You better believe it.
But that's not the end of it.
Soon the ocean too is awash with colour. It isn't just the reflection of the lights shining above. No, it's as if the ocean itself has come alive, pinpricks of bright blue riding the waves as they crash on the beaches, clinging to the edges of the rocks, before slowly fading.
And among all that spectacle, a three bright lights sits on the horizon. One could take them to be regular stars, but one would be very much mistaken.
But... what does it all mean?
~~~
ooc: Naturally, come morning, these amazing phenomena will dominate the conversation in every news broadcast, with many scientists being called in to try and explain what is happening. If you are wondering if your character will have been able to see these things happen with their own eyes, take these quick and easy guidelines.
The phenomena will start showing up just a bit after midnight on July 12th (so when Sunday goes into Monday) and will be visible for roughly three hours.
- Characters on the Sevii Islands will be able to see all three of these phenomena happening.
- Characters that are otherwise close to the ocean (think cities like Olivine city and Cianwood city in Johto and Vermillion city or Cinnabar Island in Kanto) will be able to see the three bright lights in the sky, and a bit of blue on the waves.
- Characters in the rest of the regions will only be able to see the bright lights on the sky.
