[It has been a long month, viewers, and after the EV news broadcast logo appears tonight, the reporter standing outside the Bell Tower is looking exactly as tired and frazzled as you’d expect. But this broadcast, her voice is actually hopeful.]

In yet another breaking development since the two legendary guardian birds were summoned, the brave trainers who have reached out to contact them seem to have made some sort of breakthrough!

[She points upwards, directing the cameras towards the top of the tower, where Ho-oh seems to be spreading its enormous, rainbow wings and flapping them once, letting out just the most majestic warble you’ve ever heard. As it does, a number of glints in the air around it seem to suggest that some of the feathers have actually come out of its wings, floating in the air.]

I’ve gotten confirmation from the Seafoam Islands that Lugia has actually left the caves and has begun flying this way a short while ago! It could be that the two of them are going to help the situation at Mt Mortar, which would be a very welcome development!

[Before she can say anything else, a deeper call echoes from the sky, as a large white shape speeds closer and closer to the tower. It doesn’t take long before the shape becomes clear, it is Lugia! Ho-oh takes flight the moment the other bird draws close enough to see, and the pair begin circling each other, calling out...sort of tensely, honestly. They don’t seem too happy...]

[This goes on a good ten or fifteen minutes, as the calls go from argumentative to almost...contrite? On both ends. And then, decisive, before the two wheel around and start flying off together.]

Are you getting all this--viewers, for those who are just tuning in, Lugia and Ho-oh are both on their way from the Bell Tower, and seem to be heading towards Mt Mortar! Hopefully they’ll be able to stop the fighting between the Legendary Beasts! Tim, quick, transfer to the mountain--

[The live footage jumps from outside the Tower to a different, much sootier reporter trying his best to act professional.]

Yes, here we are outside Mt Mortar, where teams of Rangers and volunteers have been fighting the fires that broke out earlier this week and seem to have gotten them under control at last. Lugia and Ho-oh should be here any minute, if this is where--yes! There they are!

[The camera pans up once again towards the peak of the mountain, where the echoing roars of Entei and Raikou have very suddenly stopped.]

[Uh oh.]

[The parents are home.]

[Lugia and Ho-oh both dive out of the patchy clouds, circling around the peak and calling out authoritatively. The answering roars are considerably more polite than the loud bickering that’s been going on for the past while. The Beasts appear to be getting a hell of a scolding for their extremely poor behavior.]

Well, folks, it seems to be pretty clear what’s going on here! The birds are definitely stopping Raikou and Entei from fighting each other now, and as you can see, the storm clouds around the mountain are clearing up already! What a relief!

[It’s true--the sky above the mountain is clearing, and the clear sunlight that’s left behind is blessedly mild, with none of the intensity that the sun has been beating down with this past month. In fact, for a minute or two there’s even a rainbow shimmering in the sky!]

[Suddenly, the yellow and brown shapes at the peak can be seen bounding down the mountain...towards the camp? On the way they’re joined by a bright blue shape that must be Suicune, and on their way any remaining patches of flames are doused. They go out of sight in the trees for a minute or two, but then they’re right there in the middle of the camp, standing beside one another...which they don’t look entirely happy about, but there’s no snarling or snapping from any of them. They seem to look...honestly somewhat ashamed, and almost as one, they lower their heads in a bow towards the humans and Pokemon they’ve caused so much trouble to.]

[As they lift their heads, all three shake themselves hard, sending long white whiskers, patches of brown fur, and long purple hairs floating off. This...seems to have been deliberate? Without a backwards glance, all three race off into the forest past the cameraman, and in the sky, the two birds wheel once more and take off in separate directions themselves. Ho-oh towards Ecruteak, and Lugia off to the southwest, presumably back to the Whirl Islands where it belongs. The camera returns to the reporter, who is looking awed and almost dazed.]

W-well then, it seems that the problem has been solved! Thanks to Lugia and Ho-oh, and to the many, many brave trainers who have worked so hard to keep this from getting any worse, who found out where the birds were and approached them, and who fought the fires here!

Thank you! All of you! We’ll be replaying this footage on the hour, for any who were unable to tune in. For now, this is EV News, signing off.

[Flashes of footage, both blinding sun and of pouring, splattering rain. Oh, you think this is a cut-together weather montage? Think again-- the next shot is a camera pan from one window of an office building to another, showing that both things are happening simultaneously.]

[The newscaster's voice cuts in over this, very seriously.]

Ever since the power outage that rocked the Johto-Kanto peninsula approximately one week ago, increasing reports of severe weather have been flowing in from all corners of both regions. Record rainfalls, baking temperatures, and more confirmed lightning strikes than anywhere in recent history have left many asking: What's going on?

Well, today, some home video footage from a household just west of Violet may have the answer.

[A cut to grainy, slightly shaky footage being shot from behind someone's screen door. It starts out fairly blurry, but quickly zooms in on an enormous red shape standing on a hillock behind the house. It's Entei, stamping the ground with its enormous paws! It's a little hard to tell exactly what this is causing, but judging by the way the nearby plants all seem to be drooping in the harsh sunlight, it's definitely doing something.]

[After a few seconds, it stops, seems to give a decisive nod, and then trots away into the wilderness, and the anchorwoman's voice cuts back in.]

Videotaped footage of one Legendary alone is remarkable, but what happened next, you'll have to see to believe.

[What happens next is, in fact, a sleek blue-and-purple shape gracefully leaping onto the same hillock that Entei had been occupying seconds before and shaking out its mane. The shot then darkens as the sun disappears behind dark clouds. Rain begins to fall and Suicune tosses its head, wearing what just might be a smirk on its muzzle, before strutting off, itself.]

[The shot lingers on the rain for a few seconds more.]

[... And then a massive bolt of lightning strikes the hillock, and the clip ends abruptly.]

While mass speculation can frequently be off-base, Professors Elm and Oak have stepped forward to confirm that by all indications, these mysterious weather anomalies are the work of the Legendary Pokemon Entei, Raikou, and Suicune.

[Now there's footage from a press conference, both Professors at the helm, surrounded by cameras and microphones.]

"Yes, yes, we are very excited! To see these amazing Pokemon so unusually active is remarkable!"

"However, we urge everyone to remain cautious! These Pokemon are very powerful, and very dangerous! If you see one, do not approach! Professor Oak and I both agree that the best thing to do is admire from afar: quietly and respectfully!
"

Many are willing to follow the advice of these renowned experts, but... SOME may disagree.

[Cut to a newscaster interviewing people on what looks like the streets of Violet City, near where the home video was shot. He's holding the microphone up to a small girl in a pink Unown-print dress.]

"What do you think YOU would do if you saw Entei?"

[The girl answers with tiny clenched fists and sincere determination in her voice.]

"HUG HIM."

[And then, it cuts back to replayed footage of the videotape, with the anchorwoman's voice delivering some final statements.]

All excitement aside, we at EV News urge viewers to keep a watchful eye out for strange activity, as well as an eye on our channel as we bring you the most up-to-date coverage of these events as the story develops.
