[It's the Seventh-Inning Stretch of the Goldenrod Granbulls game. The fans are excited, the Granbulls are up by some amount of points that is a good amount of points to be up in a baseball game.
But there's a pause, before the traditional release of the supposedly bat-shaped balloons. In the dugout, the Granbulls are excited about something. The screen is excited about something, given the romantic sakura petal filter being put over the camera trained on the pitcher's mound and the two people who've come out onto the field. The blond man and the redheaded woman definitely aren't part of the team, even though they're both wearing team colors.
The team has been careful to not let their manager see the field or the screen while they try to convince him to put on the blindfold. North hovers at the edge of the dugout, waiting until York has the blindfold on. His big hands take York's, and he can't help but blow his cover a little, an "easy does it, I've got you." as he helps York out onto the field.
And then, because he might as well, he leans in to kiss York on the cheek and says "Trust us."
He takes York by the hands and leads him carefully out to the pitcher's mound, right in the middle of the field.]
When we were planning out how we were going to do this, we thought: York is too extraordinary for some ordinary, normal stone, and an understated, lowkey setting.
That’s right,
[Comes another familiar voice, Carolina’s, from beside North and York. But their voices aren’t just audible to him, no; they’re speaking into microphones, for the whole stadium to hear, and Carolina is grinning like a conniving little fox.]
He’s not really an understated guy. So we thought to ourselves, let’s get him the biggest diamond we can find.
[she looks so proud of herself for that one.]
[North pulls the blindfold gently off of York's eyes, greeting him with a warm, loving smile and still holding onto one of his hands.]
York.
[He pulls out a ring that matches, York may notice, the rings that North and Carolina are both wearing, and goes down on one knee. Carolina gets down on one knee next to North, reaching up to take his right hand, while North is still holding his left.
They look at each other, and then smile up at York and ask, in practiced unison.]
Will you marry us?
