[Mikasa had been stopping with Armin on the islands for a while now. Playing with his pokemon, training her own when he was busy. But recently she'd noticed something and she wasn't even sure how to ask...

So she grabbed her gear and tried to record it.

It being her glowing Shinx. Now him glowing wasn't normally too concerning. He did that when getting ready to attack or when he was surprised. But now he was doing it while curled up in a ball and he kept doing it. Then after a few seconds of silently focusing on the cat, she spoke up.]

Does anyone have a cat like this? Is something wrong with him?

[Then his glowing brightened and- and... He vanished, leaving a larger cat in his place.]

...Where'd he go?

[He teleport?? Whose cat is this? Where is her boy?????]

Hi, everyone. My name is Hitoka Yachi— I've been here a little over a month and still adjusting. Well, trying to fit in. And I'd like to get to know everyone better. My starter was a Chikorita and now he's become a pretty big and handsome Bayleef. I read this out loud to him because I'm pretty sure he wanted me to say something flashy about him just with the way he kept staring. Continuing: I started taking an interest in Fairy Types and Grass Types, but at the moment I have others that're just . . . Really cute. I hope that doesn't seem shallow.

I can't say battling was the first thing that came to mind when they said I was a Trainer (to be honest, it kind of terrifies me still), but I may have found my way around that by looking into strategy. I'm not exactly cut out for brawn (no offense to those who enjoy battling for battling! Anyone could probably snap me in fours . . . 😨 even though I'm not the one fighting, it still feels like I am and I might get fried to coal if I'm caught in the crossfire, has anyone died from an Electric Type's shock?). Anyway, if anyone is on the Sevii Islands, I think I'd like to try out my first practice battle(s).

I may be here a while, but if you're elsewhere, I wouldn't mind setting up a meeting sometime when I start traveling again. I really would like to give this an all-around test drive before attempting the Gym Challenges. For Trainers: Do you have a favorite type? A themed team? How was your adjustment period to battling, if you had one?

For Breeders: What kind of Pokemon do you breed? Is there any reason for a specific choice, if you have specifics?

Thank you for your time reading this if you have!

[ and as a bonus: Yachi has taken a picture of three of her pokemon: a bayleef, who takes up most of the camera's space, a dedenne, who hardly takes up any space at all on one of the bayleef's neck seeds, and a mimikyu who desperately tries to make at least the ears of its little costume show up, only succeeding in getting its ghostly claws into the frame to hold up a picture of the three drawn on paper in a fairly cute style, with the words at the bottom written in english: thank you! ]

Anyone have recommendations for reputable therapists, whether specialized in working with children or adults, preferably in the Vermillion area or taking remote appointments?

I’ve been doing my own research and putting a list of local therapists together, but I’d appreciate more direct suggestions to look into, especially since - local or not - I’d rather know they’re equipped to handle otherworlders.

Thanks in advance.

[Y'all, it's been a Time.

It has just been...a lot, lately. Underwater temples, getting trapped in underwater temples, fighting off weird culty people who burst into underwater temples...Jane needs a break. It's September. No one can fault her for gearing up for spooky season a little early if it makes her feel better. So, while it may be a hot day, she's still in the kitchen of the Fletcher Gym, scraping out the insides of roasted kabocha squash.

Bet you didn't know that kitchen was functional, did you.]

I think there's another one of those swarms going on.

[It's said wearily, and with a sense of "I don't think it, I know it" to the words.]

Had to run from a whole darned squad of Teddiursa today...they wanted my pumpkins. Why is it always the goshdang pumpkins they want? [Her scraping becomes a little more forceful.] Or - squashes, sorry, these aren't the pumpkins I grew up with. But - but always the gourds! First at home, now here...

[Finished with this part of the rind, she sets it aside. A sparkly Grimer hand reaches into frame to take it. Yes, she brought Gertrude with her today.]

Ugh, maybe I'm looking into it too hard.

[She sighs. Rubs her face, her eyes.]

I'm. Making muffins with this stuff. So if you want some, and you're in the Goldenrod area, come by and you get a muffin. No strings attached. I'll be here until about four o'clock, and challenges are slow today, so...screw it, why not make muffins. Right? Or I can send them to you, it's no trouble. Really.

[A pause, and Jane picks up her 'gear to reveal a whole pile of squat, green pumpkins. At least two or three large tote bags' worth. Honey you ran from a pack of Teddiursa with all this???]

Seriously.

[The feed opens with JW sitting on the back porch of Handsome Jack's mansion. There is a Stunky asleep in his lap and he's smoking...something. It could be anything! He's holding the camera at a high angle but not looking at it. Instead he's looking at the wooded area behind the house.]

Just your friendly reminder that none of you have had to deal with mosquito bites this summer and I think that's pretty neato. BYE.

[End feed.]

[The video opens on a shot of what looks like a Stunky wandering through a field of summer flowers, tail twitching. The Stunky is wearing a straw hat with flowers on it. It looks like a pleasant scene...until a Cutiefly lands on the Stunky's nose. The Stunky suddenly lets out an indignant screech, shakes its head and turns around...to release it's stink. The startled -and unhappy - Cutiefly takes off, dripping scent spray.]

Holy shitballs!

[Jack's voice can be heard off camera as the Stunky, tail swishing, glowers in every direction as though she's looking for a fight.]

I've never seen her do that before! I was just getting some shots for a clip reel I'm putting together and all of a sudden Princess Stank over there turns her ass into a full on biological weapon!

I mean I know she could make stink, she's done little stink bombs before when she's pissed off, but did you see how far that went? That was more than ten feet!

Good thing I did this in a public park, not my yard!

Anyway, this is Princess Assface McStinkbutt, but we just call her Princess Stank. Or just Princess if you're my roommate and obsessed with her. Remember this butt-looking face, it's gonna be a viral sensation by next year!

Is it okay to name your Pokemon after people you know?

Or...what I mean is, do you think they would mind, if they knew?

[A short while after that, the post is edited to include:]

There are a lot of bugs on this route, I've noticed.
bigsadwolf: (30)
[personal profile] bigsadwolf
[The video feed that appears on the network is, as some are, unintentional. Instead of being caused by a mischevious Pokemon though, it looks like it's due to the Gear being dropped in haste. With the camera pointed facing upwards at a canted angle, it shows half of the visage of an extremely tall young man with his unkept hair so grey that it wouldn't be unusual to mistake him for being much older than he is. He's panting like he just ran a marathon, which he sortof did...that being, he'd fled "mom's" house before she could really force him out on her own. One look to her, then happening to catch himself in the bedroom mirror...yeah.

This is...a nightmare. It must be. Nothing else could explain it.

He'd only made it about as far as beyond the front step before eating shit on the road, something that would become a running theme until he found someplace suitably secluded to sit in the grass just inside of the route beyond New Bark. Because of all of that, Legosi's very human face is peppered with small scratches and growing bruises from multiple tumbles (beyond the three older looking claw-mark scars above his right eye), the same visible on his arms and stupidly large hands that tremble as he turns them in front of his face. He can't see his muzzle, he can't feel the wind rustling his fur. His nails are blunt and he can see his skin, like something shaved him down to nothing overnight. That would be bad enough on his own, if it weren't for the physical changes tipping him off. His ears and tail? Completely gone. And as if to act as a cherry on the cruelty filled cake, his hearing has gone muffled, and he may as well have lost his sense of smell entirely.

For the first time in a while, he can honestly say he feels genuinely terrified.]

I don't understand...what's...happened to me?

[Is what he says when he finally speaks, his voice low and only audible because the Gear is close enough to pick it up. That is probably not something most people ask. It's more along the lines of "Where am I? How did I get here? What's with that music?" Legosi had put his face in his hands initially, only to quickly draw them away upon realizing that being unable to feel his snout was making him feel worse.

His Gear wasn't the only thing he dropped during his scramble to get away from town, though. Astute viewers will notice an open Pokeball half-visible on screen near his shoe, and something fluffy with two paws resting against his knee that he's been spacing out too hard to notice just yet. The Pokemon- a little Buneary- gets up on her tiptoes and...immediately starts trying to climb into Legosi's lap, to which he does in fact notice. How could he not notice.

Luckily this isn't the first time he's encountered this little rabbit since the Gear came on, so his reaction isn't quite as strong as it was initially. That...doesn't mean it's any less odd to see the way this grown man startles like a spider just crawled into his lap, gasping so sharply it sounded like it hurt. Before the bunny can go too far, he quickly- GINGERLY- picks her up beneath her arms and rockets upright, walks offscreen as the Gear gets knocked askew by his shoe as he passes, providing a half-view of the way he just...sets the Buneary down as far away from where he was sitting as he can manage, holding up both hands like he expects her to just. Stay there? Only for him to retreat off screen back to his panic-tree.

The Buneary stays put for all of a few seconds before she's bouncing after him, happening to walk over the Gear as she goes in a way that finally shuts it off.]

Oh! Oh, wow!

[Today you are treated to an extreme close-up of the pointy and unusually excited face of one Mr. James Walter. Anyone who spends any amount of time dealing with this man on the Poke'net will remember that he is usually squinting and scowling--but not today!]

[That is because ya boy finally bought himself some nice specs! A pair of tortoiseshell glasses rest on the bridge of his nose, slightly magnifying the mismatched nature of his eyes. He's momentarily distracted by watching the in-the-corner video of what his own camera is seeing before remembering to address the internet proper.]

RIGHT. So. I don't know if any of you pay attention to the Violet City badge roll, but yours truly has left that bird-brain in the dust and earned himself a Zephyr badge! And a nice chunk of change.

[He finally pulls the camera back so that he can show off the pin where it shines on the collar of his jacket. It's possible that JW's unusual win might have made it to poke'tok. He doesn't know that though. He thinks Hot Stuff did a GREAT job. JW instantly starts fiddling with his glasses, practically BEGGING for them to be noticed.]

I have decided that there are a few good things about this world after all--namely, there's no ants so you can sleep on the ground, it's a lot easier to get health care than I thought it would be...and most importantly...

[Here, JW draws in a somber sniff and regards the Poke'Gear with hooded eyes.]

It turns out Pokemon Land is full of hot people. I didn't know! It's not my fault, I didn't know! I couldn't fuckin' see, but now I can, so, uh. I need to re-assess some things. If you wouldn't mind?

[He dips his head a little, prompting his viewers. The feed ends.]

[The Goldenrod Christmas Market is open but once a year, and Heather usually enjoys it.]

[But her expression as she trudges between the stalls with the PokeGear pointed at herself is not full of Christmas cheer]

This is... hour three.

Stall number... uh, seven.

Five hours of sleep. Got here at six.

[And if you don't believe her, there are deep shadows under her eyes. Well, more than usual anyway.]

And folks, I have still not found what I'm looking for.

[There's a jump cut, and now she's talking to some portly fellow with a stall full of oddities, from tropical Sevii berries to weird stone idols. There's probably a Pokemon holding the 'Gear this time, because the PoV is from roughly Heather's waist.]

Really?

Yes'm, the last one just got snapped up maybe ten minutes ago.

You're kidding.

No ma'am, seems like they're just in vogue this year. Ever since that Cara Liss lady came onto the scene, everybody and their grandma wants fossils.

Jeez, and just last year these things were everywhere...

Sorry 'bout that, might be getting some more but not for a couple weeks... can I interest you in a Helix Fossil instead? Those got popular a few years back but after the hype wore off there's plenty to go around.

Thanks for the offer, but no... I'll keep searchin' around.

[Another jump cut, and now Heather is just sitting there on the cold gray sidewalk, looking defeated.]

[She stares up at the sky. DESPAIRINGLY. And whispers;]

I just wanted to make an elaborate Jurassic Park joke on Christmas morning.

woofdad: nobody could imagine you actually are a werewolf (see the trick is to be so obvious)
[personal profile] woofdad
[The recorded video opens on the beginning of a challenge in the Violet City gym, filmed from some distance away, well outside the area of combat itself. After a turbulent battle, the child - who some may recognize as the same child arguing with people on the network about whether there’s such thing as an “Espcheep” some time ago - challenging Faulkner claims victory, and the man holding the camera cheers, sounding about as delighted as the kid themself looks.

As soon as the kid comes running out of the arena, carrying their victorious but exhausted Pikachu, the camera’s viewpoint drops toward the ground as Grant stoops down to scoop them both up with his free arm.]
Chip, that was great! Wanna show ‘em the badge?

I told you all Espcheep is the best! [Chip holds up the Pikachu (a bit greenish for her species, but still very clearly such) with a proud beaming smile, and the Pikachu pumps her arms and gives a weak "Chaaa~!" of agreement.] She's still weaker but she did it! I knew she could!

[With that very important message given, Chip puts her up onto their shoulder so they can pull out the Zephyr Badge from their pocket, shoving it right up at the camera for maximum exposure.

Grant gives a brief snort of laughter, and, with some one-handed fumbling, turns the camera to show both Chip and himself onscreen.]
Well, there you have it, Chip’s official statement on their first gym victory. We gotta get these guys to the Center now, so, uh-- thanks for watching this!

[A little more of that fumbling to operate the Gear with one hand, accompanied by the muffled sound of Grant congratulating Chip again, and the recording ends midway through some laughter about how he “doesn’t know how to end these things”.]

Alright, alright. When I'm wrong, I'm wrong.

[JW opens this broadcast with the camera pointed at his face. Behind him is the dining room of some mom and pop breakfast restaurant with a purple theme--must still be in Violet. While he doesn't look like he's slept in a while he is...smiling? He can do that?]

When I came here, I didn't like Pokemon. I reckon I'd go as far as to say I hated 'em. I'm still not keen on most of them, but I have come here today to tell you fine folks that I now have a favorite. It's this one.

[With the arm that is not holding his Poke'Gear, he hefts a wriggling Yungoos into the frame. It is wearing a little checkered bandana around its neck. It doesn't seem to be trying to get away from JW so much as just...generally flailing and chomping at the air. It has a lot of energy!]

This is Killer and he's improved my life ten-fold. When I look into his beady little black eyes, I know there is nothing beyond them besides elevator music. This Pokemon does not have the capacity for pre-meditated mischief, grudges, or preferences. It only knows one thing and that thing is destroying the purple rats that have plagued me since I got here a year ago.

I now know peace.

[The Yungoos whips around and clamps its jaws down right on the side of his head. JW does not break eye-contact with the lens for several seconds before the feed ends.]

[They reach for their Pokedex and fiddle with it some until the tinny voice comes on with 'Salandit, the toxic lizard Pokemon'.]

Right, a Salandit! Um, does anyone know why they're using weird names for stuff? And Patty's just got one type, it's really weird...

But! Right I was gonna ask, where can I find a Espcheep? I really really wanna get one for real! I tried looking in the 'Pedia, but there's nothing in there and they've gotta be around!

[The video opens on a bearded, eyepatch-wearing man, who’s gently cradling a very self-satisfied looking Swinub against his shoulder - which seems to be about as much for his comfort as the little pig’s, given the tension settled in his brow even before he speaks.]

Hey, I have, uh… a question, and a request tied into it. Does anyone have a large, secure room I could rent for a night? Specifically the 31st. Oh, and it would need to be around… [The brief sound of fingers drumming against the side of his Gear before he remembers the name of the town he’s in at this very moment:] Cherrygrove, ideally.

It would need to be able to contain an animal… around the size of a large bear, without it being able to break out if it were to try. I don’t have a lot of money, but I’m willing to talk about price and pay you back over time if need be.

[Akane's worried face is taking up far too much space in front of the camera.]

You guys? Connie's missing. She's been missing for days.

And I-- [She looks like she's about to cry or punch someone or possibly both.] I didn't realize--

But she'd said goodbye, you know? She was flying back to Goldenrod for the afternoon--we've been camping out in the National Park for the last week or so--because she'd caught this really fancy vivillon during the last bug contest, the kind with wing that look like pokeballs, and she wanted to show her boss--so when she didn't come home by the time I went to bed I thought it was-- I don't know. Work stuff. Connie's an intern for one of her uncles--I mean, he's not her real uncle, but he's her adopted uncle. And if she has to do a work thing and it runs late, she just stays with them. Her uncles.

But she wasn't back the next day. Or the next. She kept not coming back. And I finally sent a message to her other uncle, the one she doesn't intern for, and he says that neither of them saw her that day and they haven't seen her since then and I'm--

I'm really scared, you guys.

[OOC: This is just your normal, everyday game drop disappearance... but Akane doesn't know that. And since she knows her girlfriend is a Rocket and that she was going back to turn in her Rocket Quota, she's presuming the worst. Also I, bii, have been watching way too many shows about mysterious disappearances.]

[The video feed starts up a little wobbly, and the reason why becomes immediately apparent. Ford is sitting on the wide stone steps that lead up to the Horizon Gym and clustered around him is a veritable horde of Cleffa. There's -- count them -- seven of the little terrors. They're scampering about, making lots of noise, bonking into each other, the works. Two of them are trying very hard to push a single (loudly crying) Togepi up the stairs. It's pandemonium.]

Greetings, all. Dr. Pines here. It's been a long time since I made a post like this; running a gym has left me with a lot less time to devote to egg production. However now that I have grounds that my Pokémon can run around on free range, it looks like they decided to take matters into their own hands. I generally wouldn't wait until the eggs have hatched to find homes for the babies, but my Clefable, Phoebe, is... ah...

[His face goes dark for a second. How to put this delicately...]

... A demonic she-beast from hell.

[Nailed it.]

Her children tend to take after her and inherit her very demanding personality, so I want to be sure you know what you're dealing with before you adopt. Contact me if you're interested in a challenge.

[OOC: One of these Cleffa is promised to Dirk, but the rest of them (and the single Togepi!) are up for grabs. I'm not going to do an ooc egg post since there's just one clutch, so if you'd like to know the movesets, they are as follows:

The Cleffa will know: Copycat, Pound, Splash, Sweet Kiss, Encore, Charm, Flamethrower, Grass Knot, Rest, Toxic, Return, Round, Magical Leaf, Thunder Wave, Safeguard, Wish [4/7 available]

The Togepi will know: Growl, Pound, Sweet Kiss, Charm, Metronome, Wish, Encore, Stored Power, Body Slam, Thunder Wave, Sunny Day, Heal Bell, Toxic [0/1 available]

I've grandfathered some moves in from Generation 7 and before because I refuse to live in a world where Ford's reusable Toxic TM is useless.]

[This video gets posted in the wee hours of the morning. It's not an hour too absurd, but if you keep to a decent sleep schedule you might not see this until you wake up. When Larry speaks, it's in a conspiratorial whisper:]

Hey guys. Larry -- eheh -- Larry Laffer here. I, uh, could use some help...

[He points the camera down and into his lap, where a battered and bruised Bounsweet -- despite her injuries -- sleeps peacefully in the cradle created by his crossed legs. She makes contented, dainty little snores all the while.]

This little guy here keeps running off and getting into fights she can't win! I know what she's trying to do, but we're not going to get anywhere like this.

I don't know what the point of these balls are if they can escape whenever they want...!

Heh, aaaaanyway --

[He brings the camera back up to his face.]

-- is anyone around that would --gently-- spar with her? I've...eheh, run out of money for healing items, and I can't get a stone's throw from town before having to bring her back to the Center! So, I'm stuck here for now. I guess I could use a travel partner--or a chaperone--but that'll just get me to the next town without fixing the problem!

I'm in -- [he throws a glance over his shoulder] -- Cherry...grove? Oh, what a cute name for a town-- if anyone's available to lend a hand.
